Caliblonde 25 Posted January 20, 2011 I just got a call from my surgeon's office and they wanted to know my current weight because the doctor asked me to try to lose 10 more pounds before surgery. I have lost 2 more pounds since my pre-op appointment, but I'm afraid they are going to tell me that I can't have surgery now because I haven't lost 10. This has totally sent me into a tailspin because I need this surgery!!!! Any words of wisdom?
Eureka-C 20 Posted January 20, 2011 ask to see the nutritionist, keep a food log/track your calories, Protein and carbs, make sure they see that you are trying. If you are brave, call and ask what will happen if I try and still don't lose?
PamelaAM 16 Posted January 20, 2011 I totally hadn't lost before my pre-op appt and was panicking as well but my surgeon was "ok, we don't really expect that people really do it". I was shocked. In fact after my pre-op I proceeded to lose another 5 lbs just to prove him wrong!
sleeve 4 me 910 Posted January 20, 2011 Where are you getting your sleeve done??? I think it just depends where, to see if it really matters...
Caliblonde 25 Posted January 20, 2011 I'm getting it done at Pacific Bariatric in San Diego. My surgeon is Dr. Taller. The way he said it to me was as a suggestion, but when I talked to his nurse she made it sound like it was a requirement. Also, I know that I won't be having surgery until at least April, so I figured I had time to lose the weight so I wasn't stressing too much about it until I got the nurse's phone call.
