NanaNanner 7 Posted January 20, 2011 I keep hearing that Dr. Aceves has special technique. Anybody know what is so different?
AutumnLily 77 Posted January 20, 2011 He over sews the staple line to give reinforcement to prevent leaks.

wash 0 Posted January 20, 2011 I keep hearing that Dr. Aceves has special technique. Anybody know what is so different? He use a 36 bougie and then oversews the staple line to a 32.
NanaNanner 7 Posted January 20, 2011 He use a 36 bougie and then oversews the staple line to a 32. Now that's really interesting but confusing. Dr. Ramos Kelly uses a 32 and oversews as well. Does that mean the result would be less than 32 or am I oversimplifying things?
NJMOMof2 17 Posted January 29, 2011 Wow..that creates a small pouch. My dr uses a size 40. (USA doctor)
sleeve 4 me 910 Posted January 29, 2011 hmmmm...why would he do that? My surgeon used a size 32 period. I can totally understand sewing over the staple line as a precaution, but making it smaller after the fact doesn't make sense...just sayin I looked at this post because my friend is researching sleeve surgery in Mexico and I'm trying to get the 411 for her. SouthernSleever 228 Posted January 30, 2011 I believe because of the oversewing that it creates a smaller pouch. 97% of Dr Aceves patients lose all their excess weight within the first year so whatever he's doing it must be working. 1 LilMissDiva Irene reacted to this
**LaSaJaTa** 4 Posted January 30, 2011 As a patient of Dr. Aceves, I can confirm that what-ever he's doing, it works! I'm down almost 100lbs in 6 mos.

wareagle40 3 Posted January 31, 2011 that's amazing! through all my reading of this website I have never seen anyone mentiong this before. I just emailed my facilitor to ask about Dr. Rod. However, what is the 40,36, or 32 that you are talking about.

I totally agree. I know he does the oversew, etc... but I can tell you that my stomach is something special. I can't eat chips/candy anymore - so that to me is a MIRACLE! My stomach just doesn't like it, I can't really explain why. Do I think this will happen with all Dr. A's patients? Absolutely not, but I know it did with me. I can't eat very much anyway, but to take those away I know I will make goal. Maybe not as fast as others here or in the sleeve world, but so what? I have absolutely no doubt at all I will get there.
