For the past few months, I've needed some new athletic shoes. I have only one pair, and they are probably 4 years old. The past few times I've had to wear them for an extended period, my feet were very sore. So I decided today to go grab a new pair. Now, I've been a size 9 wide since jr. High, but for some reason (impulse/instinct) I decided to size myself today. Not only am I NOT a wide anymore, I went down a full size to an 8! I couldn't believe it when I tried them on. I'm only a little over 2 weeks out (had surgery 1/3/2011) and it's hard to believe that I changed that drastically. I tried on my old ones when I got back home, and realized that they must have been rubbing and sliding, which was probably causing the pain. When I started saving for new clothes, I never thought about the fact that I might need a whole new shoe wardrobe too!

Ohhh yea...shoe shopping as a size 8 opens up so many cute options!! HAVE FUN! And, what's a "NSV"?

Congrats! This surgery brings excitement to your wardrobe, but it can get pricey to fix. It can also bring confusion bc you no longer know how to shop for anything. For instance, I hadn't bought panties anywhere except Lane Bryant for years. And now nothing there fits me. I was so shocked when the smallest panty there was falling off of me. Wow.

I went down at least a size in shoes, kind of a size and a half. Nothing I had pre surgery will work on my feet. My former favorite boots just slide all around now, and are no longer my favorites. After a while my feet are so tired in them. So I replaced them with some sexy taller heel boots. My lower body seems to have lost more than my upper body. Especially my feet though.

This is the fun part, welcome.

A new shoe wardrobe? I think if anything would cause a lady to get the sleeve this would be at least top 5!! ;)

Congrats - that is a really good NSV!!! I haven't gone down in size per se. I used to need WW but that was before banding. But, I have noticed I have to tie my laces tighter these days.

Getting smaller does work out well!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
