Dr. C - another one

Recommended Posts

I bought an electronic nutrition assistant from Curves and just busted it out again to get crackin. It only allows me to track Calories, Fat, Sat. Fat, Carbs & Protein so Erin if you could give me some guidelines that you would like me to start with I will input those into my daily goals.

Do you want me to start immediately with your food intake guidelines or would you like me to log 4-5 days first so you can get an idea of my diet and what I need to change?

candy I would like for you to continue with your current eating guidelines for now, just so I can get a more accurate idea of your eating habits.

I use fitday.com (free) for logging in food, activies, nutrition ranges. It really helps to SEE everything that goes in and out!

www.FitDay.com there is the free version and the $20 downloadable version. The free version is a good way to know if it's something you'll actually use - if you do, I HIGHLY recommend the $20 downloadable version. It's MUCH MUCH better - particularly when it comes to your custom foods.

Good luck.

Candysmooch - I would up my Protein and exercise. For example, 3 times per week at curves is good but that is only 1.5 hours of exercise for the week. Try combining your curves workouts with step classes or aerobics classes- which usually last about 45 minutes- 5 times per week and challenge yourself. Your drink of choice should be only Water - it gets pretty boring but calories (and other cr*p) in all those other drinks add up. Go to FITDAY.COM to keep track of daily calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
