I read your other post a few minutes ago and am praying that you get the answers you need to make the right decision. Take a deep breath, calm your soul, and turn it over to God.

Much love,

Dallas

I just read your original post, I am so sorry you are going through this. I am not a patient of Dr Ramos-Kelly but I did experience a few challenges right before my surgery date. I had gone through all the pre-op steps and was waiting for my actually surgery date, the doctor's office called and informed me that because the hospital where I was to have my surgery had not filled out all the necessary paperwork, my surgeon did not have a hospital where he could do my surgery and my insurance would pay for it. I like you was crushed- I had worked so hard for 4 mths to get to this point and now I was going to have to wait another 4-6 months to get paperwork squared away. My first thought was that this was a sign that I was not suppose to have the procedure done in the first place, but then I remembered why I started this process- I wanted to be healthy. At that point I decided that I was not going to let anyone keep my from having the procedure, I took this "bump" as a sign that I needed to work a little harder, make more phone calls, and do this for myself. I had my procedure done on December 21 and although my recovery has been tough I know that my determination and hardwork will all pay off when it's all said and done. Go back and ask yourself why you started this process at all- it may give you the determination you are looking for. Good luck, I hope it all works out the best way possible :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
