Vicki how many calories are you consuming? Sometimes you need to up your calories to jump start the body into loosing again. You may also be loosing at a slower rate than someone who needs to lose 100 lbs and up.

Hang in there, and don't give up. Your efforts will eventually catch up to your metabolism and your weight loss will pick up.

Eighteen pounds is still a significant amount of weight... it's a whole clothing size... maybe you just have a really "thrifty gene" metabolism going on and it will take you longer than others to lose.

Think about how little you are eating now, you can't possibly NOT lose weight... have faith in your body.

I am so, so sorry. Don't give up hope. Your body may just need more time to adjust. I know some people have lost by increasing their calories. I track every single calorie and carb on My Fitness Pal. Maybe that will help. My doctor always says to increase Protein if you stall. Hugs and we are here for you always.

I know what works for me. I am 9 week post-op (surgery was 15th of Nov) and I HAVE to get at least 65grams of Protein in a day! I am still supplementing with Protein Shakes because I can't eat enough "real" protein in a day! I am also getting in between 600-900 calories a day! Good Luck!

Vicki it was explained to me by my surgeon that the higher your bmi the more weight you will loss in the first two months, those with a lower bmi may loss weight slower. Maybe speak to your nutrionist regarding your food intake and calorie intake.

I agree about the inches. Every diet I have ever been on I lose a lot one week and nothing the next but the week I don't lose I lose inches. If you measure yourself weekly I think you will be surprised. I don't know why it takes my body a week or 2 to catch up on weightloss but everyone is different.

You have lost a ton of weight comared to what you have to lose. Look, I had 120 to lose and in two months I had taken off about 30. You have 70 to lose and took of 20. You are well ahead of the curve.

Hey Vickie, I see your ticker has moved since you posted this. (If I am reading that right!) Woo hoo!

Does your surgeon have a NUT that you can contact? Maybe email everything to him/her and have a professional look at what is going in. I personally think that -20lbs is awesome, and I know how hard it is to do, but you cannot compare yourself to others on here. It is one of the worst ways to sabatoge yourself by saying "look how far XYZ is and yet I'm HERE."

DON'T do it!!!

How do YOU feel? Are your clothes looser? It sounds like you are focusing on all the right things, and sometimes that is the hardest part to keep doing the same thing every day and KNOW that you are doing everything "by the book" yet not get that reward on the scale. That is why those NSV's are SO important. The scale doesn't tell the whole story.

I think it might be premature to call your sleeve (or yourself for that matter) a failure. Really. Hang in there Vicki! We are all here for you!

Hey Vicki,

Firstly congrats on your 20lb weight loss.... that is a brilliant start.

I know how you feel though, my weight loss is slower than a lot of losers on here and I stall a lot too... don't be discourged though it will come off. So what if it takes a little longer... you will get there!!

Good luck and let us know how you are doing! =]

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
