Waking up THIRSTY!

Recommended Posts

4 weeks post op:

Does anyone else wake up constantly in the middle of the night, extremely thirsty? I've been having to keep Water beside my bed and it feels like I get up every 30 minutes to an hour SO thirsty. I am drinking so much water during the day, so I don't think it would be dehydration? It's so annoying! I just want a good nights sleep!! Does anyone else have this problem?

Me too, at least I sleep the night through now. I have cotton mouth when I wake, this despite the fact that I sleep with a CPAP that has a heated humidifier cranked up way past where I used to have it pre-sleeve.

Dunno what's going on. The weather here has been exceptionally cold and dry though so that plays a factor I'm sure.

I too am thirsty. I find it difficult to drink enough Water although I mostly drink Medifast shakes which are about 80% water.. Dark yellow urine is a sign of not drinking enough water. At 5 weeks postop, I still have a lot to learn and that is why this forum is so helpful to me. My old habits haven't gone away just because I had surgery!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
