Hi' date=' I'm 8 days post op. My incisions was sealed w/ surgery glue its dried up and peeling off all my incisions, the incision where the drain was taken out close up after being home for 2 days. They all look good and I'm thanking God none of them look like keloids :)[/quote']

I was worried about keloids too but it looks like it will heal ok. Just wondering what to use for this type of scar. Good luck on your journey! I'm also 8 days out!!

My surgery was Feb 8' date=' I waited about 3 weeks when all scabs were gone and started using the Walgreens version of Mederma. It has worked very well. It says use 3-4 times daily. I only do it twice a day:)[/quote']

Thank you for this!! I will definitely pick some up!! I'm only 8 days out so I guess I'll wait until the scabs are gone. Best of luck on your journey!

I use Vitamin E which is cheaper and just as effective as other more expensive products for scars. My wife buys a good size bottle from the vitamin section at Walgreens.

Thank you!! I've used Vitamin E for small scars so I'll give it a try.

By the way - when I said Vitamin E, I meant vitamin E oil. My doctor also endorses it as one of the best remedies.

When I mentioned Vitamin E earlier, I meant vitamin E oil. My doctor also endorses it as highly effective for scars.

Blessings I definitely will try the diet v8 splash and the diet cranberry juice, but the coffee I'll pass on. They were right when they said that your taste buds may change, because I can't drink plain Water anymore. Before being sleeved I drank huge cups of water, and now a sip makes me sick. It's really crazy. Oh and I've purchased the sugar free ice pops lol I end up chewing them instead of enjoying them. Thanks for posting. Peace, Grace, and Mercy be multiplied unto you!

U are so welcome Ms. Virtue the ice pops are great n I chew them too makes u feel like your chewing on substance those liquids will get boring. I know exactly what your talking about when u say your taste buds change . I used to love the juices n now I'm all Water so we all change n don't get me started on smells I run from things I used to love lol. I'm not a big coffee drinker either especially since I walked into Starbucks n saw the prices I'm good on that. I've been eating some strange things I actually love Jerky n u get your Protein in so try that it really helped me I couldn't keep anything down as far as meats but for some reason my sleeve loved it. My pcp loved the idea she just said watch how much cause it does have sodium but it comes in turkey n teriyaki BBQ it's great . So I'll chat with u later Peace n Love n many Blessings to u on your journey n in your life.

Hello all' date=' I am new to the forum after stumbling on it while looking up a question. I am a 35 yr old Black Woman from Delaware and I was sleeved on March 6th. It took me quite some time to read most of the post. They were very informative. It certainly was a Blessing to me to find this forum and that exist for black people. After reading some of the post I definitely am relieved. Thank you all for sharing. Peace, Grace, and Mercy be multiplied unto you all![/quote']

I'm from DE too!! I haven't been sleeved yet, can't wait to have it done!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
