African American Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, have a question about the gallbladder. (Someone who never had any health problems besides being overweight)

I'm afraid of getting sleeved, because I've read that most weightloss surgeries later down the line your gallbladder will have to be removed has anyone been thru this and is it best to have ot removed at the same time the sleeve is done, I just don't want to go thru this later on.I have no health problems. Please advise? I'm just waiting on approval from the Insurance company.

Question for those women that have been sleeved for awhile...have you guys kept your shape/curves after losing the weight. I pride myself in being curvy and don't want to lose it just because I will be losing weight. I never had this problem before but I have never lost a significant amount (20-30lbs).

Before I was sleeved I had an ultrasound that revealed I had gall stones, I had never had any pain what so ever. But since I did have gall stones my doctor automatically removed it. I think this might have played a part in the extra time it took for me to recover. But in the long run I'm sure it was worth it.

I started having serious problems with my gallbladder after surgery. I thought it would get better but it kept getting worst so I had mine removed three weeks ago. I feel better now that I've gotten it removed.

I've kept my shape however it wasn't what it use to be before I gained all my weight. I'm now trying to tone up to see if that helps.

lucky you.... I look like a 12 year old boy...

Even when I was younger & 130 pounds, I've never had much in the boob area...but I had ass for days!! and a tiny waist ....it was my best ASSet!

then I gained weight and my butt grew with me... it was HUGE but loveable...

now that I have lost the weight, my butt is GONE! ALL GONE!! I have a tiny waist again but no butt.... NONE

Ive been lifting weights & doing squats but so far it is not helping...

today I had on size 6 skinny jeans from Aeropostale... even when I was a size 6 in the past I couldnt wear this brand because of my big butt...

Im not ecstatic about that but at least Im not a size 22 anymore....

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
