Recommended Posts

I joined October 19th and thank God I'm doing well. I had a Hiatal hernia repair done then 2 days post op had a bowel obstruction they went back to open. But all is well

Hw 331 SW 296 current weight pending not weighing until 2 week follow up appointment which is Friday. But I think I'm doing decent with Protein and Water intake no hungry pains. I just give him all the praise for bringing me this far.

Hi sweet tooth2015

I don't mean to sound nieve but I didnt know you could have a bowel obstruction with the sleeve since they don't detach your intestines as they do with rny glad that your are doing fine after that. I am getting close I have my 5th nutrition visit Friday and egd thurs I'm so ready to be in your shoes right now hope you feel better soon.

Hello, I am a AA Sleever. My surgery date was 6-2-2015. When I started this journey, I weighed 289 and now I am at 215. My goal is to get down to 150 pounds. This surgery has been the best decision of my life. Now that I have had it, I don't see how I could have got to this point any other way. Best of luck to all of you!

I had braids during my procedure as well. I did this so I would not have to worry with my hair post-op. In fact, I am 5 weeks out and still wearing my braids. I wash and refresh if one gets loose.

I'm a AA hopeful...not sure insurance will cooperate.

I haven't told anyone, not even my CLOSEST sistafriends. I haven't told my husband I'm considering doing this, I know he won't be all that supportive. He's never really struggled with his weight and I've found most people who don't have food issues don't understand what it's like.

So happy I found this thread.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
