mochax 50 Posted October 31, 2014 I was sleeved on Oct 23rd. I'm also about 5'5" or 5'6" and was sleeved at 238 lbs. Today I weigh around 226 - one week out. I was always told that we'll lose weight slower than those who have higher starting weight, but should lose most of it in the first 6 months. Yaaayyyyy. I'm not alone in my weight range or was. I'm a month out exactly today. I am down to 215. It slows up that I can say so far. But seems like inches are melting away. I've given so many cloths away. When I started this process back in January I was 263. I've come a long way. Once I get to wonderland I'm gonna go insane. Thinking of planning a trip for myself. Keep going you will get there. Sip sip sip.
Jen - a work in progress 178 Posted October 31, 2014 While drinking to stay hydrated I used Protein juice mix like Nector. There are ways to get protein in without shakes or real food.< /p> I might need to look for that nectar. I know my surgeon won't allow me back to work on protein supplements. He is against them for whatever reason. I know most people start out their post op on liquids then go to pureed. I was immediately started on purees. The day after surgery I was told to order a puree lunch and dinner and my surgeon came for both meals to see how I liked the food and if I was able to eat any of it - cause that's the expectation at home. Also, to stalk me about my Water intake - he almost didn't let me go home because I wasn't drinking enough. At home, it's all puree the first 2 weeks - greek yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken, tuna, salmom, turkey, eggs, etc. I personally stick to the Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. When I reach week 3 I can go to mechanical soft foods. I'm not getting in my required protein at all. I am almost able to get my full 64 oz of water in everyday. I try to eat something at each meal time, but I'm not really hungry.
cangudz 27 Posted October 31, 2014 You're doing great "Jen-awork in progress"!!! I started at the exact same weight and I'm the same height. I had my surgery on 2/5/14. My goal was 170, I hit 165 by September which was 6 months out! Now I really don't want to lose anymore, I've slowed my work out down a lot, hopefully that will work! You can lose fast if you're doing everything your supposed to!
TheCurvyJones 721 Posted October 31, 2014 The "lose most of it in the first six months" is kind of a crock. To be real, you have the rest of your life to hit your goal weight. You really, really do. In terms of the best time to lose your excess weight, your first 18 months are what we call the Golden Ticket. That's time you don't want to waste because your sleeve is fresh and your body is shocked. After a certain point, your body has become accustomed to how little you can eat and losing becomes more difficult. Not impossible mind you. Folks thinking you can't lose weight after 6,8,9, 12 months. DOn't believe this lie. I haven't met a person yet that didn't keep losing after the first 6 or 9 months. It is true that your loss will SLOW DOWN... but so long as you're working your tool and working WITH your tool and you have your eye on that prize you will get to where you need to be. WHENEVER you get there.

It is true that your loss will SLOW DOWN... but so long as you're working your tool and working WITH your tool and you have your eye on that prize you will get to where you need to be. WHENEVER you get there. Most people I have spoken with lost majority of their weight in the first 6 months. That's the prime time (for most people) for the fastest loss before your body recovers and adjusts to the major change. The remainder came off over the next year or two or more. I wasn't implying you only lose for 6 months and then that's it, it's over. Hopefully nobody interpreted my comment that way. Everyone is different and has different goals and follows different programs. That being said, everyone's weight loss will be different. Some are able to reach goal in 6 months, some take 2 years. Some spend months trying to stop losing because they surpassed their goal but can't get it to stop. Every experience is different.
