African American Sleevers

I'm in VA!

Yes support makes a difference.

And no they don't understand. People think this is the easy route but this feel like the hardest thing ever. My mind has not caught up with my lil ole sleeve yet. Just a few minutes ago I forgot about it and reached for my diet snapple tea (the best) and gulped it down like I was normal. After that I said holy crap what the heck did I just do lol. But I'm happy I had a moment that I forgot because I've had a ruff day lord knows. And it felt good for a second to feel normal even though my sleeve brought me back to reality fast.

Mochax it sounds like you are doing great. You are learning about life being sleeved. Your sister is probably dealing with her own issues related to you being sleeved. She maybe unsure how it's going to play into your relationship. I suggest you just take this day by day. I am not an expert. However, I have learned that being sleeved is working for me. I am changing my life and increasing my happiness over all. Give yourself a break and remember this not another diet. Change takes time.

Ralphs/Kroger sell a brand called CarbMaster. Really low in sugar and good taste if you don't get too wild with flavors (I don't like super sweet yogurt, so carrot cake yogurt is just a big old no).

I picked up the Carbmaster carrot cake and I will not do that again. To me it tasted too much like carrots. The spice cake one was delish though. I will definitely stick with the Carbmaster. I have to see if they have it in Greek yogurt. The vanilla goes good with my homemade granola bars.

Yes Constipation can slow your loss. Increase your Fiber with flax or chia or a supplement. I use co lace here and there to "move things" and I always see a drop after that.

My husband is still in Barbados (the Bim) waiting for my return. He is telling me all the healthy foods he will prepare for me. I just don't know how I am going to pass up pudding and souse but Simon (my sleeve name) will make sure I do. Lol

It will be hard but it can be done. with your hubby willing to prepare healthy foods for you, maybe he can make a healthier pudding for you as well. It is good that you have that support especially the support of a cook.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
