Question: I am approximately 9 weeks out and for some reason today... food is like ewwww to me. I can't even manage to get myself to drink my Protein Shake this morning. So, I am sipping on tea to at least get my liquids in. I was wondering has anyone else experienced this.

@@woozybaby27, my recommendation to get start is to just hold on to your set belt and enjoy the ride. Also, don't go out and buy a whole lot of stuff. You will find that most will be wasted. In your first two weeks, don't beat yourself up because you're not getting your Protein in because you can't. Just focus on meeting your liquid requirements. For me I did nothing fancy like the homemade shakes and all that I just stuck to the basics and that worked for me. Welcome to the losing bench... as "they" say!

To date, I have loss 63lbs. I think but not certain the rapid weight loss happens more often with huge numbers when individuals are larger. I have some friends that started probably 50lbs lighter than I did and had their surgery on the same day but loss around 40lbs. Also, they say it is unhealthy to compare weight loss with others because everyone's body is different. You may loss much more than I did in your first 9 weeks.

Here is how I would suggest you prepare yourself for your surgery. Start making changes now. Pop? Get rid of if now. Make your peace with Water and crystal light or sugar free mixes. Start tasting Protein Shakes but don't buy a stockpile. Your tastes might change. Buy baby forks and spoons and bowls. Get a food scale (especially if you cook at home) - you will be shocked when you weigh out a portion size at how small 2oz really is. If you can, start walking around the neighborhood or a track to get used to doing some exercise. Your surgeon will want you walking EVERY day post-op. Track what you eat using myfitnesspal, either online or their app.

Hey ladies and gentlemen, I am new to the forum. I will be officially sleeved July 14th. How can I start preparing myself for the liquid diet?

in my opinion, you do it cold turkey. The first 3 days are rough with the 1st day being the worst. I'm day 11 no cheats so far and I'm fine. How many days do you have to do it?

I am really excited today. So far this week, I lost 2lbs total 64lbs lost in approximately 10 weeks since surgery. I go see my doctor on the 7th of July and I set a goal of being 229 by that time. Even if I don't reach the goal set above and reach 230-232 I will be extremely happy. I am loving my sleeve.

it was told to me by my doctor that you focus on staying on the liquids during pre-op as much as possible. He did not recommend not following but he understood that most cheat during the pre-op phase. The goal is to shrink your liver as much as possible for they will have little to no interaction with it.

As for cold turkey, after the surgery you are going to have no choice but to go cold turkey. Your options are risking being sick with diaheria(sick) or vomiting. Your stomach is not going to allow you (I don't know as time goes by) in the beginning to eat that much.

Hi, I was sleeved on June 3rd.

HW-246

SW-239

1st Appointment 1 week post-op-243 due to receiving lots of IV fluids before and after surgery.

Current weight-224

I have a question. do you think I'm loosing weight too slowly? I count my SW as my starting weight and I've lost 15lbs. I expected to loose 20-22lbs the first month. I am 3.5 weeks post-op currently. I try to to compare myself to others and their weight loss.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
