bren2baby 1 Posted February 17, 2013 I love that you have created a section where we can share info, that is certain to affect only women of color,. I too love all color brothers and sisters, however, we are made up differently in certain instances. Please keep posting info... Also would like to ask about Slidder foods, just heard recently about them... such as chips, popcorn, etc. Why don't these foods fill us up? Thanks again
TheCurvyJones 721 Posted February 17, 2013 Bren, they basically turn to mush in the stomach so you can fit in more. It's not that you won't get full, it's that you'll be able to eat MORE of them because they 'slide' right through the sleeve. Foods like ice cream, etc are essentially liquid anyway, which empties quickly. MOre dense foods like meat and fibrous veggies "stick around" and need time to digest, which keeps you full longer. Yiraini01 41 Posted February 21, 2013 Hello' date=' I'm new to the forum... I've been doing research on lap band & then I decided that the sleeve is the better option for me... I know my insurance will not cover the procedure, so I'm exploring going to Mexico. I've already contacted Dr. Aceves (sp?) and got some information. I know I'll have to cut back and save money but I know it will be worth it. I can't continue to be unhealthy anymore..... To those of you that have been sleeved, Where did you have your procedure done? Any complications? How did your family & friends react? How are you dealing with the lifestyle changes???[/quote'] I did mines here in the us miami, fl. No complications. I just hot it done on February 15, 2013. In still in the process but is very exciting. With my new looks come s the my natural hair no perm. Yay. And my family support me 100% even dow some of them think I'm getting surgery to get skinny. But whatever's pickles theirs pickles. Lol. Good luck.
buplee 556 Posted February 23, 2013 I was sleeved on 2/19 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. Still dealing with some gas pains, but tolerating the Proteins just fine. I am averaging 65-75 grams of Protein, but only about 32-40 ounces of liquids. It is tough trying to get in additional liquids when getting in my protein is my priority. MsBriteEyez 32 Posted February 23, 2013 Hi Ladies, I was sleeved January 28, 13. I have had a couple of battles. I did have scars and even got a Keloid Scar. I been using Scar away to help fade my scars and thank God it's working. I have started losing my hair and it has become very dry & brittle. I'm following doctor orders and take in the required Protein. The good news I have lost 27 pounds since surgery. Good luck to you all. Patienlywtng on my Curves 73 Posted February 24, 2013 Hi Everyone, I have been here awhile, was originally scheduled for December 2012, but pushed back until 2.26.13. I had a horrible night last night, got nauseous while sleeping. It was such a horrible feeling along with lightheadedness. I'm much better, but I have so much to do around my house to prepare for when I come home. Tomorrow will begin again and I will do what I can. Much success to all!!! Welcome and good luck to you. I hope your experience with your insurance company goes smoother than mine. I fought with Aetna for 18 months before being sleeved this month. Depending on your doctor, you will most likely being on liquids for two weeks post-op. You will slowly add soft foods (scrambled eggs, tuna, scallops, etc.) week three post-op. I had some pain around the incision site for a few days. I had more issues with gas pains than surgical pain. The gas pains were pretty brutal and usually last a week or two post-op.
