Finally Sleeved!

Recommended Posts

Seems like I've been working toward this point forever, but it's actually been less than a year. Had my sleeve operation 2 days ago (01/12/11). I'm pretty sore, which I expected, and finding it a challenge to get in my Protein and liquids. If I drink too fast or too much in 1 swallow, it hurts. I could very easily lay down and sleep most of the day and night, but that won't help me get the liquids in. Just wanted to say "hi" from this side of surgery =]

I was sleeved on the 12th too!!! I am recovering pretty well but I am ready to be back to my normal self soon. It is hard not picking up my 1 year old as she doesn't understand why Mommy can't pick her up 20 times a day like I normally do. I am finding it very difficult to get in 64 oz. of liquid and 60 grams of Protein as well. I am so scared to take any more than a small sip as I have read several stories about people experiencing pain when they drank/swallowed too much of the Clear Liquids. I know I will get the hang of it and know what my limits are, but this is a learning curve for sure. Good luck with the upcoming months and hopefully we will be thrilled with the results very soon!!!

I did a little better on liquids and Protein today, but still not where my doctor wants me to be. My insurance bariatric nurse called yesterday and asked if my lips were very dry and if my urine was dark. I answered yes to both and she said I'm close to dehydration. I really tried to step it up today, but just can't seem to get it all in. Tomorrow is a new day and I'll hit it hard! Good luck to you Sassyatty! It's nice to have someone to share the journey with!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
