I'm 36 & just got sleeved 7.5 weeks ago. It would have been nice to do it sooner, but that may have changed the course of my life & I might have missed the happiness I found through the path I took. Plus I've had 4 kids & they might have ruined a perfect body. They're like that....suck the pretty right out of you....haha!!

I just turned 32, and had my sleeve at 30 and 3/4, Turning 30 was a big awakening for me, it marked a point in time where over 50% of my life had been consumed by failed diets, and enough was enough! I like to think I'm improving with age! ;)

I'm so weird but this thread is so moving to me! To read all the comments and see what point everyone is/was when this life changing tool helped them. Somehow this is uplifting to me. Anyhoo! I'm 29 and will be 30 in December. I was sleeved 8 days ago and hope to make 30 looking and feeling like the best birthday I ever had!! I think this was the best age for me to have this done.

I'm 51, better late than never. But RNY never seemed right for me, and just recently found out about the sleeve. Last year, I lost 200 lbs of ugly fat through a divorce. So I figured it was time to get rid of that last 100 lbs, so I could feel good and be healthier while starting the next chapter of my life.

Guess I'm the oldest here... 63 when I was sleeved on October 14, 2012. Only regret is not having done it sooner.

OMG are you scared of flabby skin? They say if you get the surgery young you dont have to worry about flab.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
