Has anyone had immediate post op problems?. I had my single incision sleeve on Monday,1/10/11 . I had a good evening but the next day I couldn't get my foley out because I didn't have enought urine output so I had to have an iv Fluid challenge. when I started fluids I immediately felt likeI had a fist in my chest and became nauseated. When this didn't resolve , I was made npo. the next day I was able to get some fluids down and had my foley taken out. I was given the option of staying another day or going home. I came home. The nurses had told me I would gain some weight in the hospital and I was feeling puffy--but when I weighed myself last night I was devastated to find I was up 16 pounds!!!! This morning the doctor told my this was not that unusual due to all the fluids I had had and I should lose this weight quickly. Today I am struggling to gret my Protein Drinks in but have to burp after almost every sip. I'm sure that things will get better but I'm having a tough time right now

I had gain 14 lbs from surgery and it took about a week to get off. I am consistently losing....maybe not as quick as I had hoped. But I am losing...yea. I also did do a lot of burping at first and still do at times. I find that when I eat too quickly or take too big of a swallow. It has gotten lots better. Hang in there. Walk, walk, walk. After I got home I walked 3 times a day even if was just walking up and down the parking lot a couple of times.

I don't remember exactly how much poundage I gained, but I measured myself before surgery, and every week after. 1 week after surgery and my waist was still 2 1/2 inches larger than before surgery. I didn't get to my pre-surgery waist measurement until 3 weeks after surgery.

WOW! I am so lucky, I actually LOST weight over surgery.

I too would burp after every sip. I made sure and used a straw so I could limit the amount of air I took in with each drink - it helped a lot. It DOES get better, but it takes a few loooong weeks to do so.

Stick with it - you can make it!

May the sleeve be with you!
