Frustrated...nervous..

Recommended Posts

I got my surgery on December 23rd and since December 9th (when I started my pre-op diet) I have lost 35 pounds. Yes I am so happy and excited...but I am also nervous. It's hard to take down pudding and applesauce. Sometimes it's hard to just drink Water. I haven't been able to start my Protein intake because It makes me sick. I find myself so tired because I'm not getting my protein intake...I just feel tired and sick. Will this stop? When will this stop? When will I be able to just drink juice again? Or eat Soup? I am so freaked out because I literally just drink water all day because everything else is sometimes hard to take. I don't want fast food, I don't need sodas, but I crave to just eat normally again and I'm scared that I will never be able to. That I'll feel this uncomfortable feeling forever...I'm three weeks in and getting frustrated. Any and all kinds of comments will be helpful so plz plz comment.

Thank you everyone!

Jamie

you'll be fine, this is only temporary and this to shall pass. . . i'm out now a little more then 1 year and had all those feelings you have. . remember the tummy is swollen and will be swollen for a bit. . . just concentrate on getting down the fluids (water is good) you don't have to shove down stuff you don't like. . . you won't die from starvation I promise. . just relax and take one day at a time. . . i major hated my sleeve in the beginning for about 3 months until i got the hang of it. . . it's tough, it's not easy to have to relearn everything. . . so just chill and relax, you'll be just fine. . . good luck

DITTO! And, I want to emphasize the importance of the fluids right now. That is much more important that anything else in those first few weeks. You Go Girl!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
