Stalling...how do I know if I need more calories or less carbs??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone...looking for a bit of advice from those who are a bit farther out than I am. I'm almost 5 months and am very happy with my progress to date. However, the scale really hasn't moved at all since the beginning of December and I'm starting to get freaked out a little bit. My question is this: I hear quite often that people sometimes up their calorie intake when they stall like this. I also hear that sometimes cutting back on carbs is the answer. How do I know which tactic is the one to use? I really want to get these last 25 pounds off, and am beginning to worry that the scale won't move again!! Any thoughts??

Do you track your food? It might help to see a typical days foood for you along with the protein/fat/cab numbers. Also, how is your Fluid intake? There are sooooo many variables. Some of this info might get an answer from one of those with a sleeve for a long time.

BTW... You have done awesome so far. I hope I am where you are at 5 months!

I don't do a lot of food and calorie tracking, so I'm not sure about that aspect of things. I have found that increasing my Protein intake helps get me through a stall. I've done this with Protein drinks and food sources. I'm sure this helps by decreasing the number of carbs because you can only take in so much. I also found at least once that upping my calories (once I was able to eat a decent amount of food) seemed to boost my weight loss. You'll probably have to experiment with this a little. As long as your extra calories come from healthy food sources, I don't see how you can go wrong.
