shaundra 5 Posted January 12, 2011 i was trying to think ahead and be prepared for my post-op diet so i asked thepacoordinator to send me a copy, and OMG im so confused! most of that stuff i have never even heard of. im feeling discouraged now and wondering if i can even handle the post-op diet. what kinds of food/supplements did you consume on an average day in the first month after surgery? thanks in advance, Shaundra
JanettRN 0 Posted January 15, 2011 I am 15 days post op and just started pureed yesterday. During the liquid diet phase I mainly had cream Soup, Protein Shakes, SF pudding, SF jell-o, and yogurt that didn't have any fruit bits in it. I wasn't able to eat much at all, so the repetitiveness wasn't a big issue. I had my moments though I am definitely ready to move on to soft foods, cause it will be easier to find something to eat. Good Luck!
BonnieJuneE 5 Posted January 15, 2011 Hey there Shaundra!! It can all be extremely overwhelming. I just started a YouTube channel documenting what I have been going through. As of tomorrow I will be 7 weeks out and will post another video in the morning. The link to the videos is in my signature below. Hope these help. :-)

loosing.it.in.2011 0 Posted January 15, 2011 <LI>First two weeks of liquid diet Bouillon, broth cheese Soup Fresh or frozen plain yogurt - Greek Yogurt h]is high in Protein liquid Meal Replacements (Protien Shakes) Plain Gelatin Desserts (sugar free / Fat Free Jello) Refined/strained cooked Cereal (Cream of Wheat) Strained or blenderized soup - No chunks Water Gatorade Herbal Tea - No Caffine (Caffine is a diuretic and will dehydrate you.) This is the guide I have for the first two weeks post op. You will be so suprised how little you will be able to eat post op. I can not even describe it. It is much easier for me to consume food that is room temp or warmer. A cup of tea is alot easier to sip than a glass of cold Water.< /p> I was really sick of the sweet tasting stuff after the first few days so if you can find some Soups to eat between protien shakes it helps. You really need to get your protien in to help you heal quicker. Hope this helps.

NanaNanner 7 Posted January 30, 2011 hey Shaundra, PM me your email. I have something for you.
NanaNanner 7 Posted January 30, 2011 I bought Isopure unflavored Protein Powder (Amazon) to mix with Crystal Light for the clear phase. I also bought Ramen Noodles and pulled the spice packs out of them. They tend to have more flavor than regular broth. I have a couple of different types of Protein powder. All are whey protein isolate with an avg of 25 gm per serving. I'll mix those with Almond Breeze once I go to full liquids.< /p>
kansas1973 1 Posted March 9, 2011 Hi there: I kept a very detailed blog of the first couple of month pre and post op; lots of suggestions, taste tests, what worked, what did not. Hope it helps! http://bananapouch.blogspot.com/
MovinForward 2 Posted March 11, 2011 Like the others mentioned I was able to do broth, sugarfree Jello , crystal light, creamed Soups smoother foods and more there really is quite a bit of options.. After surgery my favorite thing was Edys sugar free real fruit pops! Loved them, they gave me taste, and the cold felt good on my mouth and throat!
Used2b575lbs 29 Posted March 11, 2011 To be honest with you the first two weeks I was on liquid and didn't want to eat/drink and hardly could. My doctor called for me to have 3 3-4 oz servings of Protein shake at double strenght to get my 60 gram requirement and 64 ozs of Water along with 2 Vitamins and 5 Calcium chews and my other medicines. That alone was nauseating and hard to swallow. weeks 3 and 4 I was on two shakes and one 3 oz serving of soft Protein Cottage cheese worked great for me during this time and was definitely my favorite mushy. Another favorite was refried Beans but due to fat and sodium I limited them to only on occasion. After four weeks I moved on to slow cooker chicken, eggs, cheese, turkey chili, and other softer hard Proteins. I got sick a handful of times but I think on every occasion it was my fault either eating too fast, too much, or not chewing it good enough. Hope this helps.... If you're ever in doubt make sure to reach out to your doctor and nutritionalist as they all have their own programs.
