faithstar 3 Posted January 11, 2011 Ok so I have to admit, around a year ago I was sitting around 50 pounds lighter and getting ready to lose weight through another diet and the thought of loose skin worried me somewhat. Now I'm heavier, I'm more concerned about my health and getting the weight off so I've put loose skin to the back of my mind. I was just watching The Biggest Loser and happened to notice how fast everyone lost weight and how their skin seemed to be fine! The plastic surgeon who gave a talk to our support group said exercise can help very little but that can't be right with the results seen on those contestants. Possibly it's the strength training... anyhoo, I was just wondering how everyone here feels about loose skin? Did you find the reality different to the idea of it in your head and did it bother you less or more? I'm not too sure how I'll feel but I have to admit, I'm worried I will have to pull up my legs to see any shape in them (I'm sooo bottom heavy!)
justdance 0 Posted January 11, 2011 Well it totally depends on how long you have been overweight, ur age, and how much weight u need to lose. but what i think people forget is to do actual weight training like u see in the biggest loser.. most people concentrate on cardio when it should be both.. we r not talking lifting 5lb weights. But lifting enough we you r getting exhausted by the 12th rep. Now I realize it takes time to build strength and 5 might be all you could do at first but you just build off that... with the weight training u may still have loose skin but it will be dramatically less bc u will have muscle making u look firmer. Good luck
Susanne 32 Posted January 11, 2011 I don't think the skin of the Biggest Loser contestants is fine at all. If you look real close, you'll notice that the contestants at one point don't take their shirts off for weigh-in. I am watching the last season (US) and it happened in episode 9 (which is probably week 9 too). I think that is the point where the man boobs and the belly flap would be too icky to show to the viewer :-) I have noticed that in every season and I haven't found another explanation for the sudden appearance of the shirt on the scale.< /p>
AwesomeSleeve 5 Posted January 12, 2011 Great question. I wonder about sagging skin too. Has anyone tried resistant bands?
