oreilly76 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Hi! I just had surgery Thursday and I am having trouble with seeing things close up. I can't even read the labels on items, everything is a blur. I can see far away things fairly well... Is this common? I am wearing a patch behind my ear for nausea, I wonder if that or my pain meds or something is causing the blurriness? BTW - I didn't think I would be sooooo hungry this quickly!! Walking through a grocery store is wicked!! I want to eat everything. Not even sure if it is true hunger or just a 'need to eat'!! Thanks!!
oreilly76 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Yeah, I just checked through my meds... the patch did say may cause blurry vision. I will call Dr. on Monday to see how long he wants me to wear one! Thanks!!
johnna 0 Posted June 18, 2006 I get blurry vision when my blood pressure is up. Regardless, i'd call doc. i had head hunger the first week after my surgery really bad. i couldn't sleep for a week because i'd lay down and get very antsy?? my legs and arms would be restless. i realized finally that the problem was I wasn't loading up on food before bed. when i was anxious before, i'd load up on food. i was pretty anxious after surgery about different pains, etc. when i'd go to bed i'd think about all of it, get very anxious and couldn't sleep. I didn't have my numbing drugs (food) to fill up on. as soon as i realized what was going i was able to talk myself through it and i'm sleeping pretty well for the last week or so. Melissa Lea 1 Posted June 18, 2006 Oreilly -- I typed this big for you because I understand. It's a side effect of the anthestia. If you look closely in the mirror your will most likely see that your pupils are dialiated. It will get better day by day. It took me about 4.5 days. Be patient. ralheit 1 Posted June 18, 2006 Funny, but I had surgery in March and by the end of April, I had to get new glasses. My prescription changed quite a bit. But I did have some complications after surgery including high blood pressure which I'm still taking meds for. The doc says I should be able to be weaned off of them after a while. oreilly76 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Thank you everyone! I am going to call my dr. in the morning to check as well. I didn't feel as bad the first few days after surgery as I do today. I have a lot of 'gas??' pains today, plus I have had several large coughing fits and it super hurts the port area! I just took some liquid cough medicine, so I hope it doesn't happen again. I can't believe I am feeling worse today than the first couple of days.... Thanks!
Melissa Lea 1 Posted June 19, 2006 The gas hit me really bad several days after my procedure (in fact 6 days post-op). My right shoulder especially :faint: . The gasX didn't offer me much relief. Doing arm exercises (raising above head and back down), deep tissue massage, and heating pad helped the most. But this too shall pass (no pun intended).
