I've been a bad boy

Recommended Posts

So I've been an idiot. My exfiance came by for a visit and well I have been bad. She was here for two days... during those two days... I ate some pretty stupid things : 7 pieces fried calimari with a red bell pepper and black bean ragout ... 1/4 of a corn dog .... and 2oz barbecued asian pork ... and worst of all 1/2 a blood orange martini.

I know that I'm an idiot but she was in town and I'm hoping this could be a start of us rekindling so I took her to eat at all of our favorite places... and well I got caught up with things. We also ... well were intimate.

As for the food, well it opened a can of worms because now I want small portions of all my favorite foods... and well I definitely lifted more than fifteen pounds during well... I'm sure you get the drift...

So how bad is it ?

Well lets put it this way, when you fall off a bicycle, you pick yourself up and get back on right? Same here, you fell off, well buddy pick yourself up and get back on. . . as far as the "you want the bad stuff now" that is a choice you'll need to make. . did you really go through all this surgery stuff because you want all that junk back? it's tough man, but you had this surgery for a reason and i'm sure it wasn't to go back to eating how you did before. . . good luck, you'll be ok. . . you made a booboo (eating wise) but your the only one who can correct it too. . . holla back

Yep, get back on that bicycle, go back to following your drs orders. Decide to do other things next time, food doesnt have to be the center of entertainment. I have learned (I know it sounds cliche) to eat to live, not live to eat.. If you do go out to eat, find out whats on the menu so you'll be prepared on what to order. Bowling, movie, comedy club??? whatever but try to handle things in your head before your caught off guard for next time, it helps me make better decisions.. Good luck

You know the answer to this one don't you? If you think this is going to be an ongoing behavior, you might want to talk to a councilor or your Dr. to work on some more 'courage'. It might not be bad to ask for support from the gal in question... if she is going to be in your life, you want it to be a healthy life, yes?

Thing is, at this stage, so early out from surgery, when you have that kind of thing you'll still see the weight coming off on the scale, simply because you're still so swollen than your restriction is ridiculous and you can't eat enough to bring the weight loss to a halt anyway.

WATCH YOURSELF that you do not get in the mind-set of "Oh cool, I can still have these things and lose the weight!" because there WILL come a time when you WON'T. That swelling will go down, all your old habits will be back, and suddenly you're not losing weight anymore because the sleeve can't do the work for you if you're putting things in it that slide right through and let you keep eating.

You must, must, must use this time to full advantage and keep on doing it the right way until you're at goal, if you want to make it there... that's coming from someone who's been at the same weight for four months and is only 12 lbs. away from her original goal. Trust me, do not go down that road.

LOL, I'm sorry, but this post cracked me up! Look, you know the answers...don't eat fried calimari right after surgery :D....

Anyway, I think you know what you need to do. Use this time to your advantage, work on getting back to better eating habits, and picking up your fiance will be sooo much easier next time :-)

Stop beating yourself up and get back to doing what YOU know you should be doing. You had your surgery for a reason. Get back to the basics. Just imagine how surprise your ex will be when she sees you the next time. Keep your eyes on the prize. Good luck and keep us updated on your success.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
