TLang262 - Texas 0 Posted January 6, 2011 I was sleeved on 12/30/10 and was told he took about 75% of my stomach. When I got home all I could take in was about 2 oz due to swelling. I am post op day 7 today and I can now take in about 4 oz. Is this normal? It seems like a lot.
Firefly2 9 Posted January 6, 2011 are you saying 4 oz at a time? I was sleeved on Dec. 27th and my doc doesn't want me going over 1 oz (30 ml) every 10 minutes. He gave me a whole lot of medicine cups that measure out to that so I can make sure I don't go over. Hope this helps Tiffany
Becca 108 Posted January 7, 2011 My doctor told me to sip as much was comfortable. Just no gulps. I don't believe you really "feel" the restriction until you start on foods. liquid just goes straight through.
myrori 55 Posted January 7, 2011 I am six weeks out and I really don't think about how much anymore. I know I can't get in near as much as I used to. I can take 2 swallows of liquid no problem. As far as food, I get in about 4 bites of chicken and it is all over.
Susanne 32 Posted January 21, 2011 liquids always worked fairly well for me, not sure why. I only had the restriction that I could take 2 to 3 swigs, then had to wait a few seconds, then another few swigs. I guess 2 to 3 times my mouth volume = my esophagus volume. I believe there are people who - even at the same Bougie - can take a lot more than others....
bloomin_vjf 1 Posted January 21, 2011 I was sleeved on 12/6/10 and had difficulty drinking the first week. By Sunday, I noticed that the sips were going down much easier. I'm almost 7 weeks out now and can actually drink a bit more normally but, ever so often, I forget and really take a gulp. Yep... it's not comfortable.
