Sea, did I see you at the Chiefs game yesterday? We took off at half time but as we were heading out the gate I swore I saw someone who looked just like you wandering around the "hallway" area, carrying a white plastic bag.

(BTW, I loathe football. Hubby got free tickets, really wanted to go, football doesn't have much presence where he's from and he thought it might be fun... but he didn't know anyone to go with who wasn't already going so I took one for the team. I sat there staring at my hands and the really weird people in the crowd while everyone around me stood up, screamed their heads off, and insisted on drumming the back of my chair... absolutely miserable time... )

I'm still stuck, and qualified for "stall" now. I've weighed the same, plus and minus the same 3 pounds, since around August 23. No change in measurements, and no change in body fat % as of 2 weeks ago. I've tried eating less, eating more, exercising less exercising more, less Water, more water, on and on and nothing is changing. I find it very hard to maintain any motivation when I'm full on stalled. And I find it hard to not start thinking, "Maybe I won't lose any more", as irrational as I know that is.

That was me at the Chiefs yesterday. I was doing my 10,000 step stroll around the interior stadium since the game as such a blowout. The plastic bag was the last sections to read od the Star and the New York Times. I go 2-3 times a year. Have a friend with season tickets. Did first of month weigh in Sun a.m. Lost one lb. Stall out territory ahead!

Hi Girls! I'm finally back from my Grandpa's funeral in Houston, and can I just say the plane trip from HELL!!! (on the return flight). I could have drove home faster than it took me to fly. To start off, I'm waiting in the concourse on my departing flight, and a seemingly sweet little old man sits next to me, and whips out his hard-core porn magazine and starts openly reading it right next to me. The pictures were so gross, I thought I was going to puke. He was totally unscathed sitting there looking at it with kids and everyone else sitting around him!!!! I was praying the whole time for him to PLEASE not be assigned to sit next to me on the plane!

Then I finally board. We sat IN THE PLANE on the runway for 45 mins leaving Houston, but they came over the speaker and promised we would make up the time in the air. Of course when I land for my connecting flight in Memphis, we were 45 mins late. AND the airline didn't even have the courtesy to let people off the plane first that they KNOW will be late for their connecting flights. So I stand there in the aisle for another 10 mins at least, waiting for people to de-board.

Then, I am literally running (funny picture I know) through this huge, might I say poorly planned out airport in Memphis to get to a totally different terminal. I would say I ran at least a mile to get there. And of course I missed my flight to KC. I then go to the "rescheduling" desk, and they tell me they will not pay for an overnight stay because the delay in Houston was "weather related". Hilarious, being as the skies were crystal blue, no rain,.....NOTHING in Houston! But then they say they can re-route me through Minneapolis and onto KC, but I would have to run quickly to yet a third concourse to catch that plane. Oh, and they say my luggage most likely won't make it on the correct plane. I'm literally exhausted, emotionally from the funeral, and physically from running another mile through the airport with all my carry-on stuff. My back, legs, and arms were literally burning from pain. My back was drenched with sweat at this point. So I run again to catch the plane to Minneapolis.

Barely made it, again, sat on the runway for way too long, and there was a baby screaming the entire flight (which I totally understand because I have kids, but it was still unnerving). Then we get to Minneapolis late, and again have to RUN seemingly forever to catch the plane to KC. Nothing was open at this time to grab to eat, I'm starving because I haven't eaten since Breakfast because I had been on a plane (of which didn't even offer pretzels for a snack), and when I did get to the airports, I of course had no time to stop anywhere and grab anything.

So, I board the plane in Minneapolis, again a crying baby....and we sit on the plane with NO AIR, no engines running or anything for over one hour. They kept coming over the speaker and giving bogus reasons as to why we weren't taking off, but the scary thing was that men in green florescent jackets, kept coming onto the plane looking confused, seemingly playing with the controls and lights in the cockpit. Finally the captain came on and said we had no auxillary power and we were waiting on a part!!! Just what I wanted to do, DIE from loss of electrical power on a plane after my long day with the airlines!

We finally land in KC at 1 in the morning, no bags for me, then there are about 20 people waiting and waiting and waiting for the shuttle to come around and pick us up to take us to the parking lot (and did I mention I was standing next to this stupid young guy who was mad and throwing around the f-bomb at least 100 times in that 50 minutes while waiting on the shuttle....I was so close to slapping him!!). Evidently, the shuttle service shut down and didn't know about the late arrival. We stood there for 50 minutes, until someone finally called on a courtesy phone and complained, so they had to find someone to go get a bus to take us to the lot. Long story short, I was supposed to get back in KC at 7 pm, and I didn't get home until 2 am!!! I don't know if I will ever fly again!;)

Sorry to hear that Wheets:cry I totally understand, as I have been there for a while now. You will get through it though, you are strong. It's a very tough thing to get a handle on when you have been losing so quickly though, and then all of a sudden...nothing else is happening for no particular reason. Hang in there!!

It was not a week for airplane travel. I left on Tuesday for Chicago (was at a conference in Chicago Wednesday and Thursday, and spent Friday in Aurora/Naperville, where my work team is located), which should take about an hour, hour and a half depending on the airline... and it took me over 6 hours to get there. 2 hours sitting on the runway, and hour and a half holding pattern over Kirksville, etc. I had the window seat, and the two people to my left were youngish guys on their way to bootcamp. Interesting conversations. Flight home on Friday was extremely uneventful and one of the smoothest flights I've had in a long time.

Finally dropped another pound:eek: ....Went in to see Dr H. this morning for a very small fill. I'm still eating too much, and I know it...but I'm scared to death of the reflux I had before when I was portless and at or around this same fill level.....so I had him put in only 1/4 cc, with the plan of SLOWLY inching my way up if necessary. That puts me at 9.25 cc in my VG band. We'll see if there's a difference.

DH and I are going on a cruise for our 14th wedding anniversary in January. Would like to drop another 19 pounds by then....I actually was trying on formal gowns at Dillards, and for the first time EVER trying on clothes didn't leave feeling depressed and disgusted. In fact, I couldn't stop looking at myself thinking...DAMN that girl looks pretty good! However, it is still such an optical illusion for me, in that I still don't recognize that person in the mirror as being myself

I was actually able to snugly fit into a size 12....(I know what you all are thinking:p ) Now granted it was stretchy material, but still looked cute. It was a 180 dollar dress, or I would have totally bought it, just for the size alone!!:D I took several different sized things off the rack to try on, just because I truly wasn't sure what sizes I was wearing now. So it was fun to do some trial and error. But most of the stuff I was fitting into comfortably (still snug fitting though) were 18's. Still unbelievable being as a little over a year ago I was in the tent sizes at the large womens shops wearing 36's.:girl_hug: The thing that drives me nuts about all of the cute smaller clothes is that EVERY SINGLE ONE of those formal gowns were sleeveless, which look disgusting on my wretched flappy arms! I only found one that was sleeveless that had a shawl (sp?) type of thing I could maybe cover my arms up with...but I would be so conscientious (sp?) of it all night that I wouldn't enjoy myself.

Congrats! Re: the arms - any seamstress can make you a shawl for relatively cheap. That way you don't have to find one with a dress -- which is going to be hard to do esp since you aren't hitting a big prom time. Just select a coordinating fabric and I would guess maybe $30 will get you a tailored shawl. Then get a nice brooch - faux diamond, or even have it covered in a fabric to match your dress. Then use the brooch to secure the shawl, and you won't have to worry about it, it will stay in place all night.

Also, formal night isn't as formal as it used to be. Last time I wore a floor length skirt, black, with a semi sheer, slight metallic sheen overlay... and a black top that had a black velvet bodice, gathered on the side with a trailing ruffle, and sheer sleeves. Aside from the older people, I was one of the dressier ones there. Formal has been replaced with cocktail and in many cases dressy business casual (LOTS of pant suits w/ sweaters, etc).

Congrats Robyn!!!

SIZE 12!!!! Tight or not that is such an accomplishment.

I just bought my first pair of size 12 jeans last week. They are a stretch fabric and too tight to wear with any top other than a loose sweater to hide the roll coming out over the top of the waist but still it was such a good feeling.

Unfortunately the scales hasn't just stopped its swung near 6 pounds back the wrong direction over the last 2 weeks. And I've completley fallen off any and all wagons. The last few weeks have seen my Birthday as well as my sisters, sons, nephew, mother, and brother in-law. Even the smallest meals if poorly chosen can hurt the weight loss. Though considering the time of month I do think some of it is more retention than gain.

ONE MORE THING ROBYN - I think it's safe to say that its time for you to update your little exercising diva. She no longer even remotely represents you.

I know I need to update my little exercising smiley...but she is so cute, I hate to part with her :D

Now let me reitterate, that size 12 dress was STRETCHY material (although I didn't believe I could even get it over my head):girl_hug: ...I could never fit into even at size 16 pair of jeans at this point, as I carry all of my excess weight right now in my lower abdomen. Need a CHOP CHOP!!!!

What a great idea! Thanks Wheets!!

That's good to know.... I already have a nice black dress, but it is getting to be pretty big on me, and I of course was wanting to buy something a little more form fitting. Not to mention, I ALWAYS wore black before....now that I have lost a little weight, I have found that I am wanting to venture out and wear color again. The gown I found was actually a dark purple, floor length. Very pretty, but sleeveless :girl_hug:

Jennifer, Holli - I got your voicemail you left before last SG. Just this morning! I never even noticed it there in my inbox. Usually I get an alert but I had muted alerts since I was in a meeting earlier that day, and forgot to unmute. I just got another msg and noticed I had two instead of one. Sorry! Please don't think I was ignoring you! :)

Anyone up for getting together some time? Doesn't have to be a big meal event, we can just get drinks or something. Thursday maybe? Short notice tho.

Vent:

Taking a class this semester. Really not clicking with the instructor. This is the first time I've had this particular challenge. Challenges in the form of, I ask a question, and she replies, "I believe I've already covered this, but here we go again..." I say, "I don't see X, which is my fault - but could someone point me to it?" and she replies - in a private area - "I hope int he future you would show the discretion of posting questions in a private area or else the other students might think there's a problem with the way I've organized the class." What??

This has been going in since the class started about 6 weeks ago and doesn't show any sign of getting better, but I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've passed the cutoff for withdrawl/refund (this class cost about $4,000). The class is required for my degree, so if I dropped it and forfeited the $ I'd be delaying my graduation another semester. I've tried talking with the professor about it but it doesn't get me anywhere other than, "My style isn't for everyone, and you can't expect me to change."

So I wrote to the school and explained the situation... that I couldn't have foreseen this issue with the instructor before class started (when refunds are no longer available), that I've followed reasonable measures to remedy the problem, that I have a good grade in the class (so they wouldn't think I was just scared of getting a bad grade and wanting to drop). I've not yet gotten to the point of specifics, e.g. pasting the teacher's remarks, or even saying *what* the exact problem is (I left it as a general inquiry for now - are there any circumstances under which the refund policy can be waived... having some challenges with how the class is instructed...etc.)

Doesn't matter, I know how schools work, and I know there's slim to no chance that I'll have any options other than 1) eat the cost and drop the class so you can pay another $4k later to take the class again or 2) Deal with the instructor, which means (for me) pretty much stop asking questions or doing anything beyond exactly what's required... which isn't how I learn.

*sigh* Sucks!

Angela - Are you online? Anychance you mind adding me to your AOL IM buddies. Promise I won't abuse it. I personally don't like IM much as its hard to work and IM at the same time. But I'd like to talk to you in private for a minute.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
