gastric sleeve plication in mexico, help?

Recommended Posts

That's true, its hard to know who's for real or not. I have spoken with Dr. Ortiz several times and had lots of interaction with Lori the patient coordinator. Of the 200 plications that he's performed only two did not lose the weight they desired to lose and no one has had complications from the surgery. He is not the cheapest but I believe that he is one of the best. I asked about his suture methods based on some things Dr. Watkins put on the boards and he totally made me feel comfortable with his methods and materials used. Good luck on whatever journey you decide to take! Get on here and update us! I'm off for plication on Wendesay!

Olivia,

Your day is fast approaching. Make sure you take gas-x strips and chapstick. My lips were a little chapped from not drinking Water for the whole night and day sad.gif

Oh and slippers and comfy, loose fitting sweats. I wouldn't worry about a robe because I actually bled a bit on my hospital gown so I was glad I didn't have a robe. I have a small incision in my waist which hurt a bit afterwards because I didn't realize it was there, so you may want to ask your doctor where all of your incisions are.

keep us posted!!

I went to Dr. Corvala...in July...you can read my blog (it's in my signature line)....

i had the best hospital experience I've ever had, the Dr. is awesome his team is great....I have not once regretted my decision....remember it is major surgery, and you are having major medical care....but with Dr. Corvala I felt safe, was at a full service hospital...

It's a tough choice....good luck.....

Hi everyone,

I'm going to have plication surgery this Thursday with Dr. Corvala. I chose him because of his experience, skill, and reputation. Also, since I'm 63 I thought

surgery in a fully equipped hospital would be a good idea. Dr. Watkins also seems like an excellent choice but I'm too old for his program! Oh the pain of rejection! He has good reasons for his age limit at this time because his patients don't stay in the hospital (currently, maybe they will later). The age thing is funny. I don't think I'm any older than the rest of you, but I guess I am. Any comments from older patients? I suspect I won't bounce back quite as soon as when I was younger.

I'm kinda having fun telling people I'm going to Tijuana for surgery! They think it's insane until I explain my reasoning and research. All of my doctors are supportive. My primary care doc went to a medical conference in Hawaii last week. Gastric plication was presented as a new and better bariatric option. She learned that plication patients have a reduction of hunger hormones that are similar to bypass patients. Anyhow, she's all for it!

Hi! I'm sending good vibes your way for a great surgery and recovery. Please tell us all about it when you are feeling up to it. I would love to hear more about your experience with Dr. Corvala and Hospital Angeles.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
