deletedelete 0 Posted January 4, 2011 I have been training for a 5k on 03/27/11. Now that I have scheduled my revision for 01/17/11... I am thinking this may not be a good idea? Will that be too soon after surgery? Realistically I would need to pick up back on my training at LEAST 6 weeks prior to the 5k... and that is just shy of a month out of surgery. Dawn 16 Posted January 5, 2011 If you are the type of person who recovers easy and WANTS to run then I say it's totally doable!! I am 7 1/2 weeks out right now and I have been joggin on the treadmill and I HATE to run! LOL
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted January 5, 2011 I pretty much walked a 5k at 2 months out, but I don't run too much - still too heavy and my knees are bad. I haven't since and more stick to walking 2.25 miles 5 days per week which I'm working on my 4th month out now. I really don't see this should be a really big problem if you train for it. Give it a try...
LittleSteve 5 Posted January 5, 2011 I started Walking at 4wks, Gym at 8wks, Run/walk at 3 mths, Running at 5 mths. Now I`m up to 10km a day but I run on the beach so my knees don't hurt.
Peronella 2 Posted January 5, 2011 I was told by my doctor to get out and start walking at the end of the 1st week. I was sleeved on 20 December and I walk 2 miles a day on the treadmill. I think you just have to listen to your body and your doctor. It sounds like there are lots of different opinions out there.
