Hi this is Lisa, and I had my VGS on 12/14. I started my pre op diet at 434 lbs and now I am down to 400. The problem is, I have been at 400 for 6 days now. I am freaking out. Is that all the weight I am going to lose? I get all my Water and protien in, walking is hard for me so I am doing a little bit but not 30 minutes. Will I lose any more weight I didn't go through this to lose just 34 pounds. Oh my gosh I am frustrated. How can I not lose with the small amount of food I am eating? I really need some reassurances here if anyone has some. Thanks

I have heard it is very common to have a stall around week 3. I was sleeved on dec 13th so I am just one day ahead of you. For the last few days I will lose weight every other day. Our bodies are still processing what we did to them. Try taking your measurements. Some say that inches will fall off during a stall. That way you are still seeing results. Be patient. The weight will come off!

You've hit the dreaded 3 week stall. Plus, you've dropped 34lbs in 3 weeks, and your body is thinking "WHAT H E **" is she doing to me. You're going to have to be patient, continue to get in your fluids, and Protein, follow the plan, and you will lose weight.

We didn't get fat overnight, we aren't going to get skinny overnight. I know it's frustrating, but you've been losing almost 2lbs a day, and realistically that can not continue. Your body has to catch up, and adjust. The average weight loss is 10-20 the first couple of months, then 5-10lbs per month after that. Now, with a higher BMI, we typically lose faster, but your body is still trying to figure out what you are doing.

You will lose your weight. Stick to the guidelines, stay the course, and stressing over it isn't going to make it worse. Hide your scale, drink your fluids, and let your body recover.

Hang in there, you're doing amazing ! ! !

Hi Lisa,

^^^^^ I agree with the others^^^^^^

You are doing amazing, and the dreaded 3 weeks stall is just that.... dreaded! Most of us experience it and we all get over it!

The scales will move again... good luck! =]

I was also sleeved on 12/14/10 and at week 3. I agree with what everyone else has said, focus on getting your Water, Protein and exercise in. Another thinkg that you may want to do is to possible change up your foods that you are eating. Congrats to you!!!!

Around week three I spent 10 days jumping up and down between 259-261. Finally started losing again, about a pound a week, then in the last 5 days suddenly lost 3 pounds. I didn't even chart it at first because I thought it was a fluke, but woke io this morning and still gone. Keeping my fingers crossed now. I think this uneven weight loss and stalls is the most frustrating part of the whole experience, but the big picture is I am the lowest weight I have been in 10 years!

Hang in there anyone who hits a stall.... it'll pass.... you have to remember what we have put our bodies thru, and give them time to adjust.

My weight loss was up and down for quite a while, sticking the same for a bit then losing large amounts... but I have done 50 lbs in 30 weeks... so the average is pretty good.

Have faith in your decision...it'll pay off, just do your end of the deal and the weight will fall off.

Good luck

I too had a really slow start, thought I was going nuts! Then all of the sudden off it came, 2 pound one day, 3 the next, same for a day or two then 2 come off. No rhyme or reason.

I hit my stall at two weights with a 23 lb weight loss. I stood at that weight for about 4 days, but I tried something a little different. Everyone kept saying, your body is in starvation mode and its holding on to the calories you are eating so I did something different. I consumed more calories and I have lost 5 additional lbs. Makes sense as our bodies are recovering from major surgery and in need of food. Obviously I cant eat a whole lot, but and additional 50 - 100 calories did the trick. I am sure I will have many stalls, but I am down a pant size and very happy with the result. Good luck on your WL journey.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
