Breakfast, Lunch and Protein

Recommended Posts

How do you get your Protein in for Breakfast? I'm having a really hard time finding things to eat for breakfast that contain a lot of protein. I don't eat yogurt and it seems that almost everything else is full of carbs :(

Also what about lunch? What are you eating to get protein at lunch?

dinner I got covered! LOL I'm just "sick" of the Protein drinks already :(

I like cottage cheese (9g protein/100g) and eggs ~7 grams Protein each depending on size. chicken breast is ~25 grams protein for an average sized breast. I like it with a few spinach leaves and some fat free dressing. I don't get on with Protein Drinks so I missed out on them all together (just concentrated on Fluid intake in the early days)! cool.gif

I think breakfast is easy, egg and Banquet turkey sausage (or some other brand) makes 15 grams of Protein and 180 calories

You could try a high Protein Cereal for breakfast. This one is nice but also pricey:

15 grams of protein for a serving - add a cup of milk and you have a protein blast in the morning. It tastes fairly good too!

If you want to go all out, try a high protein oatmeal - I am not talking about the Quaker stuff with the little bit of extra protein but this stuff with 35 grams of protein:

I try to keep a little carbs in my morning breakfast but here's what I had this morning.

1/2 a piece of turkey sausage

1 egg

1/4 a piece of toast with butter.

The lunch I had yesterday was

3 baked chicken nuggets and 1 french fry

dinner

3 chicken wings with blue cheese

Snacks

1 oat bar

glass of protien chocolate drink (not a shake exactly)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
