PlannerGirl 3 Posted January 3, 2011 This morning I spent some time trying on clothes in my closet that until recently no longer fit. What a pleasant surprise. I have a bunch of things I can wear without having to go out and purchase "temporary" clothes. About 6 years ago, I lost just over 150 pounds, then 4 years ago I quit smoking and found the weight again. Because the weight gain is fairly recent, and over a relatively short period of time, I have clothes in various sizes. In fact, I have jeans in 7(!) different sizes. There's such a temptation to buy new clothes at every new size, but I am going to try and be patient, save the money, and do major shopping when I get to goal! M2G 1,836 Posted January 3, 2011 Oooooh, I need to do that too! I'm putting it off for now because I can usually find something to wear and make it look decent. Thanks to yo-yo dieting I have everything from 14-24 in my closet. Yikes! I do have about 2 pairs of jeans in size 12 from YEARS ago, I kept them thinking "oh someday I will fit back into these" lol. I probably won't even like those jeans when I'm a 12 but whatever, they are taking up space in my closet. I'm also a teensy bit sad about the clothes that are now too big on me (just a teensy bit....okay now I'm over it) I don't spend enough on my clothing to warrent having a tailor fix them, and I do love to shop, so when I'm at goal I plan to do lots of shopping as well. Such fun things to look forward to! For now I'm happy that I can shop in my own closet.
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted January 3, 2011 I do also have several sizes in my closet. The majority go down to 14's. I have a few 12's, 10's and 8's (goal size). Once I get past the 14's (and I'm almost in them) I'll not have anything left to wear. What a great problem to have!!! What I do is do a monthly "try on". It's a "Me Time", where I pull out all the clothes that are too small and try them on. It's still great even if they are too small. Because if I measure it from the month before I can still see the progress. Such as my 14's - 2 months ago they wouldn't get over my hips. This past try-on I got them buttoned/zipped but is still a bit too tight to wear - so next month they should be good to go!! I love tracking my progress in as many ways as possible, because the scale is only nice to me once in awhile...
MICHELLE LEE 19 Posted January 3, 2011 I too have lots and lots of clothes in my closet. I was looking at them the other day and my 14 year says to me, "Mom, why do you save all of those? You know they are out of style!" LOL I gotta love her!
klus263 9 Posted January 3, 2011 I use to have a closet full of clothes "for when I lost weight". Unfortnately, Hurricane Katrina decided that these clothes are outdated and I didn't need them anymore. So I have to go to the thrift store to find my next sizes. I was able to find 2 pair of jeans 16 and 14 that fit and will work for a while. Since it is winter the sweators I currently have I layer so having them a little big is okay. Once I get to goal then it will be a shopping spree. So now I will just try to save as much money for when I get to goal.
coops 1,790 Posted January 3, 2011 Before I got sleeved I had a bit of a episode and chucked away a load of smaller clothes, I didn't know the sleeve was gonna happen as we were looking into it and worried whether we could afford it or not! Today, I have tried on the last of my saved items, ie those in size 18 (UK) and now they fit ... I have nothing to try on! How stupid was I? Hindsight is 20-20 vision. I am tempted to get some small clothes in the sale ... but by the time they fit it will be a different season!!! Oh well! =]
SarahS 13 Posted January 4, 2011 I too have just about every size from 32 down to an 8. I did give a lot of stuff away recently because I didn't think I was really going to get the surgery and I didn't think I would even fit into the smaller sizes, so I gave them to people who could use them. OH well, guess I will just have to buy new stuff, hehe! I figured that I would want some new stuff anyway when I get to goal. I have at least a few pants in each size. Except I dont' have any 22's, which I would be in now!!! And I refuse to buy pants because I would probably wear them a few times and then they would be too big. So, I put my 24's in the dryer, hehe. And I can zip my 20's so I will be in them soon! I found some Tommy Jeans packed away with tags on them! So they will be like new! I think my mom got them on clearance for me years ago but I was gaining weight so fast and never could wear them. They are so cute, can't wait to wear them I do have some 22's but they are all spring type pants and capri's. I took all my size 22 and up and bagged them up to donate! I will never wear them again!!! And it makes me feel good to donate. Some still have tags. I wish I could give them to someone losing weight that could use them! Anyone around the Cincinnati, Ohio area??? I did keep the pair of jeans I wore to the hospital. I took a pic of me wearing them today, hehe, and I will do it again, probably at goal and maybe other times.

M2G 1,836 Posted January 4, 2011 Thanks Can't wait till I can stand in one leg, hehe. Maybe at goal And judging by how fast you are going...that will be SOON! I would send you some clothes but it sounds like you would be out of them while they are getting shipped!
SarahS 13 Posted January 4, 2011 And judging by how fast you are going...that will be SOON! I would send you some clothes but it sounds like you would be out of them while they are getting shipped! I am not working right now, and I don't go out a lot, so I usually wear my pj's a lot, LOL. If I go to a friends or my mom, I just wear sweat pants sometimes. So, I rarely wear jeans. One day I wore them to a dr appt. , the size 24's and they were kinda uncomfy, I had to unbutton on the way home, hehe. But I just put them on to meet a friend for lunch the other day and they were lose. I was sooooo happy. It's so weird! I do wish I had someone to exchange clothes with! But I am tall and have long arms, so it's hard! I'm 5'10''
