so scared of doing something wrong.

I am so frighten to do something that's going to cause a leak. I am 11 days out and starved. I finally ate mashed potatoes today....was it too soon?? I couldn't help it. My sanity was at stake. I had to have substance. It was so Dang yummy, the two tiny spoon full that I had. It didn't hurt at all, just a little discomfort going down but well worth the feeling. I go for my follow up tomorrow and I am praying he tells me to start mushies.....even though I kinda already started. Any feed back would be great to hear. Thanks so much! Blessed.

no sweetie you didn't do anything wrong. . .it's normal to be worried about leaks. . . just keep being aware of what your doing. . eat only the amounts your nutritionist tells you eat, or your doctor. . . stick to their instructions and you'll do fine. . .there was another person who had the surgery the same time i did and she started eating mushies the 4th day against doctor orders but she was so very hungry she said she was going to go insane. . the doctor didn't say much about it. . . good luck!

I was so craving the mashed potatoes and scrambed eggs when I just short of starting mushies. You should be fine as long as you don't overdo it. Maybe just having some may slow down the urge a bit. I was so scared the first time I really sneezed. Just keep following your diet guidelines and you will be fine.

Hi Blessed,

I would definitely talk something like this over with my surgeon prior to moving on to the next step. I know there have been many here who call and ask if it's ok to move to the next stage earlier than what is written on the guidelines.

Be careful, your stomach staple line is still healing - you don't want to jeopardize your health for a few bites of potatoes. I'm not saying you did hurt it, it's just best to run this by your Surgeon *before* doing it.

I hope this helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
