No Cosmetic Surgery after VSG Surgery

Recommended Posts

My name is Teshawna and I haven't received my surgery date yet, but I just have a question. Is there anyone that was 300 lbs or more pre surgery that didn't need cosmetic surgery post surgery? I am wondering because that was really one of the main reasons it took me so long to go through this process because I didn't want to loose all the weight then have to have a lot of reconstructive surgery done because of it.

I started this process at 291. I am only 14 days sleeved but my total weight loss so far is 53 pounds. I was and still am wondering how my body is going to look when I lose another 80 pounds? I know that my boobs will look crazy, but that is to be expected when losing so much weight. I am not really too worried about my tummy, butt or legs. Weird but I am most anxious about my arms! So for me once I can start working out I will be lifting some weights to help tone. Every body is different so a lot depends on where you carry your weight. I am large all over. But some may have just the big belly. Also, age makes a difference. I don't know if I will ever get plastic surgery, but I would rather look great with clothes on then be unhealthy and fat.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
