soontobelovely 0 Posted December 26, 2010 Hi, I was "sleeved" in May of 2009 and never really lost alot of weight (approx. 50lbs total) and now less than 2 years later I am eating alot more food and gaining weight like crazy!!! I think alot of my stomach was left and I want to get re-sleeved or continue withthe gastric by-pass. Is this possible even though I only need to lose about 50lbs.? Tiffykins 673 Posted December 26, 2010 It's a very tricky surgery, and only a good revision surgery should evaluate your sleeve and see if it's possible. It would be interesting to know what you can eat, and how much you can eat only because it's good for the research stats. Do you know what size bougie your surgeon used? Was he/she experienced? Those are some things that would need to be answered, and I wouldn't go back to the same surgeon if they didn't perform the surgery properly. Getting the sleeve smaller is very risky, and is not recommended. Typically, a revision to the full DS or RNY is a better option if a restrictive only procedure did not give you the results you were seeking.
chilo1 62 Posted December 28, 2010 I heard about getting a temporary band on the sleeve if you haven't lost all the weight or if stomach stretches, I don't know how that would work though, cause after taking the band out you would gain all the weight back? I would go to a BAriatric surgeon with a lot of experience to see what he/she recomends.
Maribeth 0 Posted December 28, 2010 The VSG can be the first step for the Duodenal Switch if you want to consider that.
