TijuanaPlication 87 Posted December 26, 2010 Congratulations! I was told 3 weeks for the plication and I'm guessing it's bit longer for the sleeve.
HetKF 33 Posted December 26, 2010 I was told not until after your 30 days out OR 6-8 weeks for strength training. Walking is really the only SAFE type of exercise you can do post op. It is so you do not put yourself at risk for hernias etc.... Just because your incisions externally are looking good......sometimes your internal incisions take a little longer as I was told by my Surgeon. Better to be safe than sorry
kgremmy 36 Posted December 27, 2010 I was told 4 weeks

Congratulations on your weight loss so far!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel awesome! The liquid diet gives you the strength of 10 men-LOL. Weight is still coming off pretty regular although I feel soft and flabby, would like to work in some exercise soon. I stopped taking pain meds afert 5 days, I walked a lot at the hospital and believe that really helped my recovery. I go to the doc tomorrow to find out what the deal is on the exercise-I'll post answers here.
NJMOMof2 17 Posted January 2, 2011 I was told after 2 weeks, I can start on the treadmill and after 4 week, I can start doing more strenuous exercise like spinning, which I love to do!!! Good Luck.
Peronella 2 Posted January 3, 2011 I was told after a week to exercise as normal, just no abdominal crunches. I wonder if, by normal, my doctor meant "my normal" or regular person normal... In any case, I have been on the treadmill for a week and feel great.
Dr. Duc Vuong 44 Posted January 3, 2011 I recommend to my patients 4 weeks before any strenuous exercise, and don't do it if it hurts. good luck! Dr. V
M2G 1,836 Posted January 5, 2011 I was a regular exerciser before being sleeved, and was told by my surgeon to wait 6 weeks before strength/weight training. However, walking was not only encouraged but expected. So I was up walking within 3 hours of surgery, and for those 6 weeks that I couldn't do my regular exercise I walked a lot on my treadmill. When I went back to exercising, I pulled a muscle and had to wait one more week for it to heal. So, definitely take things slow!
