Too much protein at once

Recommended Posts

Sound like a dense liquid. Remember our new stomachs are adjusting and maybe it is too much at one time. Try halving it and see if sets better.

My NUT told me that your body can only absorb about 25 grams of Protein during each meal. So, the 50 grams might be wasteful. I agree that you might need to half the amount.

Your body will absorb the Protein, but it might not be utilized fully for muscle building, but it won't hurt you. It could be a combination of things. The thickness of the liquid, you might be developing lactose intolerance and whey Protein is a milk product. I would vomit, and have diarrhea with horrible gas before I realized I was lactose intolerant and tried to drink Protein drinks.

You can try making them half strength to see if that helps any, but don't be surprised if you still feel nauseated.

Thanks I'll try that you don't think banana is to much sugar? We get 5 grams a day right?

I avoided fruits only because of the carb/sugar counts. But, it might be a bit much for your healing tummy.

Per myfitnesspal.com a fresh banana has 17gr of sugar, and 31gr of carbs. I never had sugar guidelines because I ate sugar free stuff during that stage, and avoided carbs like the plague so I really don't have to watch sugar intake too closely.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
