buchannon 17 Posted December 22, 2010 I was curious if anyone else has had something similar to this. I'm 10 days post-op now and just noticed that 1 of my 5 scabs has a hard area close to it but under the skin. It doesn't really hurt to touch or push on it but none of my other entry spots from the laparoscopy have this under-skin hard spot. It's on the middle-left entry spot where they pull the stomach out from. Any ideas?
myrori 55 Posted December 22, 2010 yep, that one on me is was sorest the longest and did not lay nice and flat like the rest. The Nurse at my post op visit explained that that particular incision has a very deep stitch in it and will take a bit longer too look and feel like the rest. Plus I think they moved that area around a lot more and pulled the tissues.
buchannon 17 Posted December 22, 2010 Hrm.. did you actually have a lumpish type thing under your skin around it though? I think my sorest entry is actually the one on the far right where my drainage tube was (it's by far my biggest scab right now) however it doesn't have a lump under/around it. myrori 55 Posted December 22, 2010 I don't have a lump now, and I cant remember earlier. Is the lump hot or protruding?
buchannon 17 Posted December 22, 2010 I don't have a lump now, and I cant remember earlier. Is the lump hot or protruding? Nope - I can only feel it when I press around near the scab there. I only noticed it because I had to run to catch a bus earlier and was holding my stomach so that it wouldn't flop around and hurt. I guess I'll give it a couple more days before I start freaking out. Shan 2 Posted December 22, 2010 I had the exact same thing under one of my incision sites. It was just a big hard lump that you could feel, but not really see. That incision was also the only one that got a HUGE bruise around it so I'm thinking it was just some scarred tissue that needed to heal. After a couple of weeks the lump started getting smaller and now at 7 weeks out...it's completely gone. Hope that helps.
mskissty 0 Posted December 22, 2010 I have a lot of that too.. scar tissue it sometimes goes away with time..
VIV121 0 Posted December 23, 2010 hi, i had a lump under my skin when i went in for gallbladder surgery this year, it was right under my left scar, wasn't painful, but kept getting bigger, then suddenly it burst out, turned out to be an infection, i would check it out with your doctor as i was sooooo scared when this happened that i thought that something had gone wrong inside, hoping this doesn't happen when i get sleeved in january
Bumblestitch 0 Posted December 23, 2010 I have the lump too, I was sleeved on the 14th. It almost feels like a small knot, under the incision and close to the skin surface. I'm not worried about it, I just thought it was part of the healing process and the fact that it was a big incision. I also have bruising around that particular incision too. I can only imagine them standing there yanking and pulling my huge stomach out of the tiny hole while I lay there unconscious. :-)
buchannon 17 Posted December 27, 2010 Yeah I guess I should just stop worrying about it and give it some time. I'm glad to know that some other people had the same exact lump that I was worried about. Thanks guyes I can only imagine them standing there yanking and pulling my huge stomach out of the tiny hole while I lay there unconscious. :-) Haha I was thinking about that too. I even asked the doc "how did my huge ass stomach fit through that little incision!?"
Strwberriekissesrbetter 2 Posted December 28, 2010 I have on incision that was like that too. My surgeon said it was the deepest incision cause it was where they removed the excess stomach that was removed. so he said it would be tender longer and may take a bit longer to heal then my other incisions. I am now 8 weeks out and all healed... Good Luck too you...
Maribeth 0 Posted December 28, 2010 I was sleeved on 11/22/10. I had a hard lump under one of my smaller incisions. It didn't hurt. It is gone now.
