sharmom 7 Posted October 20, 2008 Switch to tricare standard if you can. Prime will pay for it except it takes much longer with pre authorizations. Check out the web site military.com and type in Lap-band They will give you numbers that you can contact someone in person. it took 3 days for standard to approve me I am a spouse of a retired army man. my surgery was on 9/26/08 Do not give up because they are paying for the lap band my out of cost expence so far has only been 700.00 Keep on it. email me if you need more help
BellaBean 0 Posted October 21, 2008 (edited) I have Tricare Prime and yes it is covered! I have my surgery date all ready to go! You can call up the Tricare number and ask them yourself from reassurance. Your PCM will refer you to a surgeon in the network that will work with you. EDIT: I just realized how old this thread is and why Tricare wasnt covering it LOL Way to be observant on my part! Dave_NW 92 Posted September 28, 2011 I Have a question what exactly does 200% over ideal body weight mean?? There are height/weight proportionate ranges that are published by Medicare and are followed by insurance carriers. Your PCP should be able to tell you where you fit in. For example, if your ideal weight should be 125 pounds for your height, and you weigh 250, then you'd be at 200% of your ideal weight. Good luck' Dave
