Almost TWO hours LATE...

Recommended Posts

but, none the less I was sleeved on Monday, December 20th.

They told me to show up at the hospital by 11:30 and do everything to prep for my 1:30 surgery.

I decided to be there by 11 in case I could get in early, I'd be good to go.

But, I ended up waiting for at least two hours before I even seen my surgeon.

I kept joking with everyone. I really wasn't nervous at all. I was more annoyed with running behind schedule then ANYTHING.

I didn't have to get a Foley since I went to the bathroom before the surgery. And, I am so thankful for that. I did NOT want one of those.

My husband and I joke that I have a 90 year old bladder. I have NO issue peeing what so ever. However, after surgery it did make me nervous because I had to kind of force it out. And, it made my stomach hurt a little.

I am still in some pain, and still taking my pain meds. But, hoping to stop them ASAP.

I wasn't able to walk around like I wanted while in the hospital because I was in pain and SO nauseous.

But, today I found out why my side was hurting so much. They left the stinkin' heart monitor piece on me. So it kept sticking to my binder.< /span>

Now I've taken it off I feel so much better.

Leak test came back great. No complications during surgery. Now, I just wait and recover.

Congrats! I too had a hard time peeing afterward, I think it from the meds they give you to "dry" things up. Sorry you were so nauseous, did the meds for it ever kick in?

LOL, I was peeing like a race horse and was so embarrassed. They had the little bucket thing in the toilet and I was constantly filling it up.

Why are they monitoring that anyway?

Ty, I like being on the loser side :)

I think they measure to make sure you're outputting something,

Meds finally kicked in for nausea. Hasn't really been an issue since coming home.

I did just go outside and walk around the block with my hubby.

Welcome!!!! Be super patient with yourself this first while. Sometimes on the boards we all so thrilled with the positive that comes from our surgery that we forget that the first little while can be draining. You will rock this!!!! Work hard, follow your doctors advice, sip, and walk!!! Best of luck to you.

Anna

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
