Paul Wall (rapper) got the sleeve! . . .

Recommended Posts

Hello all

Just found out Paul Wall (rapper) got the vertical sleeve. Nice to have a celebrity shed a lil' bit of light on this surgery because I know my family had never even heard of it. Here's the article.

He told me about the gastric sleeve, where they cut off two-thirds of your stomach and remove it… they cut off the part of the stomach that produces hormones and makes you hungry. Your stomach cant stretch anymore, you won’t over-eat and you’re really full, but it’s slower and your skin doesn’t sag. I had it done on New Year’s Eve, and it’s been six months now. I’ve lost 100 pounds, and it’s been slow.

Good coverage, but I am confused, what is slow about losing a hundred pounds in 6 months?

:rolleyes:OMG that is pretty neat and he is so right about TX and they do say everything is bigger in TX . By speaking out he is taking the hush hush attitude away and making it seem ok .....because it is ok to be happy

Great article! I've actually noticed that in Texas is the only place that I travel to where they actually have billboards for the sleeve and not just the lap band. Here in SoCal, all you see every few yards is lap band billboard. . .UGH!

I think that is because Texans are bigger we are raised to eat good and not to waste food. I know not finishing my food is something that will be hard to over come post surgery. Ya just can't always carry your left overs home some things are just no good reheated . It gives me stress to think about wasting food .

Great article. It makes you wonder if the surgery would help over weight alcoholics stop drinking. My husband reads media take out and told me that he read something about Paul Wall, but I just thought it was made up bc most of media take out is bs. I guess they had the facts correct this time.=)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
