Had surgery on 12-16-2010

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, It seems such a long journey from the start of the prelimary class for bariatric surgery to now. For me, I started getting serious about weightloss in March 2010 and that is when I started my first prelimary class. I started walking and can now walk 2-3 miles a day. I enjoyed all the classes we had to endure. I had surgery in San Diego and it was such a nice experience. Drinking in the hospital was good, and I was not hungry. When I got home, that is when the battle started. My family is making Cookies, making dinner, and eating like crazy. That is the hard part. But so is drinking every 15 minutes. Sometimes you just have to get up and leave the situation. Well that is my beginning.

Stay strong! I find keeping my a mental picture of my new lower number on the scale keeps me strong when I think about those holiday treats, and soon you will be eating food and you will be surprised how full you get even from just teaspoons of something and their food wont even be a temptation!

What a great present you have given yourself for the new year!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
