Time spend thinking about food (8 days post op)

Recommended Posts

I never realized how much time I was spending just thinking about food before the surgery. I know I'm a fresh sleever, but I've already noticed a huge difference in what occupies my thoughts, and I'm only 8 days post-op.

Instead of constantly thinking about "what am I going to have for the next meal?" I've been thinking more about friends, family, job, sex, hobbies, etc. You know, "normal" stuff - it's nice! I'm so glad I got this surgery, I hope my attitude remains this way as the months go on. I wish I could fast forward a couple months in time just to see where I'll be at! laugh.gif

I completely agree. It's strange. I'm on my 5th day post op. However, Im the opposite, i knew exactly how much I thought about food and dieting prior to excerise. In fact, that kind of scared me' about doing this whole thing. I mean I worried if I would be lost after surgery and wouldn't know what to do with my time and my mind.

Sorry typo... I meant I knew how much I thought about dieting and exercise prior to surgery. It was my whole life and I hated that.

Well, I'm 3+months post-op and I can tell you it only gets better. I give a moments thought to my meal just before making it (will I have tuna or egg salad today for lunch? ) Fix the food, and then forget about it. I used to be always thinking of my next meal before the one in front of me was done. It is amazing how freeing it can be to not have your thoughts constantly revolve around food. I'm sure skinny people think like post-WLS people...food becomes an afterthought. LOVE IT!!!

Yeah - what a difference! It seems like things will continue this way, as the days go on I think about food less and less. This is amazing!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
