Feeling Great! (8 days post op)

Recommended Posts

Just staying in from lunch while co-workers have burgers and stuff. I'm 8 days post-op and feeling pretty amazing. People have told me that they can already tell a weight difference in my face and I feel like I have a ton of energy.

I started "puree foods and full liquid" diet yesterday and haven't even made good use of it yet. I tried to puree some Pasta salad yesterday but was so put off by the color and texture that I couldn't eat it - despite it being one of my favorite foods pre-op. You guys weren't kidding when you said tastes change after surgery!

I had a 150 calorie yoghurt 5 hours ago and still don't feel like I want to eat anything. Of course the thought of stuffing my face with french fries sounds nice and familiar but I don't have that hunger feeling that I usually have and get distracted with other things.

HOORAY!! I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling so well after eight days.... wait another week and you'll feel ready to go out dancing!

Get used to having one small yogurt fill you up... I'm nearly 3 weeks out and can just eat the teeniest amounts of anything... a few bites does it. I am sick to death of the mushies... ate a lot of "bites" of yogurt, cottage cheese, and mashed potatoes.... that was about all I could stand.

I feel luckiy that we both got sleeved during the "fat season," we are being saved from the holiday goodies!!

Keep up the good work...

It's amazing how different doctors do different post op diets. I am 7 days post op and start shakes today. I do liquids & shakes for 1 week, then move to creamed Soups. I can't have mushies for 2 more weeks.....yikes! I want more! I see my NUT today and since I feel fine and hungry, I hope she let's me try something early.

Wow my diet is pretty laid back compared to you guys. I have 1st week post-op = liquid diet, 2nd week = puree foods, 3rd week = soft foods, 4th week = whatever I can tolerate.

Your diet is much the same as mine. I am a little confused though. Is yogurt a full liquid or pureed?

I counted it as a pureed food. I think the heaviest thing I tried to consume during my full liquids phase was some chocolate milk - which my stomach didn't like too much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
