BZButterfly79 19 Posted December 19, 2010 I have been wanting to write since Thursday but I physically could not, today is the first day I have sat at the computer and I have missed all of you. I went in for surgery Wednesday morning at 11:30 got knocked out pretty quickly and woke up to a lot of pain, Morphine had me throwing up the entire night about 5x all together the nurse was very nervous since she said the last thing she wanted was for me to throw up but there was no other way it was a miserable night, until the doctor prescribed Darvacet and that made me feel a lot better. I left the hospital the next evening after the doctor said my sleeve was strong and without leaks etc. I got home with liquid pain killers and phenergan also liquid which were the only things that seemed to work for me. As far as Protein and Water and this and that? I simply couldn't I got a little broth in and felt like I was gonna throw up, I opened my fridge and smelled garlic for some reason and felt like throwing up...then the gas...thanks to all of you who advised me to buy a gas pill because for some reason that's what is causing most of my discomfort right now, I remember Tiff saying that she has these little burps well I am burping all the time it is a bit strange for me I have to admit. I was able to use the restroom for the first time for #2 yesterday which was 4 days post op. I also got my period yesterday...the scale has moved but it all must be the water weight because I am peeing but not drinking as I should. I am praying with time things will heal and I can at least eat something I got all these Isopures but have a hard time drinking them. My husband has helped with the kids which has been very important as I have been able to focus on getting better. I will post pictures and such soon of incisions and things like that if anyone cares to see but if there is anything you can share with me I really need the support right now to keep going, love you all. hugsamber 8 Posted December 19, 2010 Congrats! The first week is the hardest...at least in my opinion. I was sleeved on Monday so I am only 6 days out. I am still taking my pain meds and walking as much as I can. I still have gas and can feel it moving through me. My tummy also grumbles and makes noises a lot. I had nasuea as well the first day really bad. But since then have been good. I sip, sip sip all day long. It is hard to get in more than 40 oz of Water though. I can now have full liquids but only eat a tiny bit, less than 1/4 of a cup and then I am done. Just remember to take it easy. I try to do too much then realize ouch, I need to sit down! Also, the gas x strips helped me a bunch. Walking was the best thing though, even when I don't want to, I walk just in circles around the apartment (its been raining here for a few days). Good luck and hang in there. It gets better each and every day!
AutumnLily 77 Posted December 19, 2010 Things will start to get better soon. Glad you are doing well. Keep us posted on your journey.
M2G 1,836 Posted December 20, 2010 Congrats and welcome to the losers bench! I wouldn't worry too much about the Protein (Isopure) right now, but you do need to focus on the Water intake. Keep drinking that Water to fight dehydration. I was a burper too, for every single sip of water I took, it equaled 2 burps. Annoying but my family did get used to it. It subsided after about 3 weeks. Hang in there, and keep healing and yay for hubby dealing with the kiddos! Rest, sip, rest, sip, rest....
peatie 4 Posted December 20, 2010 I am 12 days post op and still have a hard time sitting in a chair, much less be on the computer. It will get better with each day. Also to remember, never trust a fart this early out. Keep up the good work and in no time we'll all be at goal! 1 LilMissDiva Irene reacted to this
Secret Surgery 34 4 Posted December 20, 2010 It will get better. Congratulations! Just think in no time at all you will be posting about your weight loss and not the pain. Just try and get your fluids in a rest.

LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted December 20, 2010 It really really does get better in time, promise!! Your main concern right now should be getting as much Water in as you can. If it helps, Water down the Isopure. Isopure does count as a Fluid too, so that will help you when figuring out how much you're getting in. I'm only saying this because for me, the flavor of Isopure was a bit much for me right after surgery. I had to water down pretty much anything I was drinking. I liked it before surgery but straight after it was horrid. It's okay once again and I do drink it from time to time. It's all different now, and though I do have some instances where this is still true, for the most part I'm pretty much back to normal as in flavors. However, I have found that some things I've hated pre surgery I now love - and things I loved I really can't stomach them anymore. The things I've found I can't stomach are lots of Carbohydrates as they make my stomach feel yucky and nauseated, same with anything really oily. Anyway, that is something you will deal with down the road - you're still doing your clears. Just something to look forward to when you get there. Take it one day at a time. I pretty much struggled the entire first month. Some have shorter recoveries, some even longer - just know you aren't alone in this I think you're doing great!! Hugs to you, if you need anything let me know! I'm super happy for you and welcome to Sleevetown!!
Cinderella 2 Posted December 21, 2010 BZ, Congratulations on getting sleeved!!! I was nauseated right after surgery, but they gave me some kind of anti-nausea drugs in an IV which stopped it right away. After the first couple of days, I felt much better. Don't worry about all the Protein and stuff this week but do sip sip sip that Water... you can't let yourself get dehydrated at all costs. It gets better, I'm almost three weeks out and feeling great. Good luck to you! Cinderella
iegal 460 Posted December 21, 2010 I had the sleeve as an outpatient surgery and did not recover easily due to excessive nausea....so I am feeling your misery. Good news is your will recover and forget this now. As all have mentioned, keep drinking Water, Isopure as much as you can. Okay, really you need to twatch the clook, timing your self and force a sip as timed intervals. This will help you recover and feel so much better. Your journey may not have any bumps, but the results are undeniable. Rest and recover soon.
MistyB 3 Posted December 21, 2010 I know how hard it can be having kids. I have a 1 yr old and a 3 yr old. My husband is great with help too. Most people I know had this surgery when their children were older and could take care of themselves. I'm 7 days post op and I feel your pain. Just remember that everyone on here keeps saying that it gets better, so let's believe and try to stay focused on getting our fluids in and staying positive. Congrats & Good luck! BZButterfly79 19 Posted December 21, 2010 Thank you all for being so sisterly to me, things are getting better mostly my energy level but if I had to use a scale of 1-10 I would say I feel like a 6 , intestines seem to be full operational, I feel like a baby(getting burped:)-This is been truly the greatest support group in THE WORLD to me.
