sylvia 0 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi everyone, I am penciled in for Jan 29th but I'm currently trying to hurdle the money issue. Is this i worth the money and putting my family without any safety net and some debt. I got through the other emotions now i just have to come to terms with this. Any encouraging word or words of wisdom would be helpful. good luck it will be worth every penny I paid myself too
XTrvgnt 0 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi guys! My date is Jan 20th! It feels so close..yet so far. I'd love to stay in touch with you guys and hear about your journey! From my understanding, I don't have a pre-op diet at all, just nothing after midnight the night before surgery. I'm also having it done on the 20th! Good luck

ChattyCathy 0 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi I'm Cathy, and I had my gastric sleeve done on January 3rd. So far, so good. A little sore, very thirsty, not at all hungry, and tired. I just keep sipping and sipping the Isopure (Apple Melon is not bad at all) and walking and walking. A bit hard to get out of bed because my abdomin is sore where they pulled the stomach out the one hole. I've got a very low-grade fever they told me not to worry about unless it gets up to 100.5. They said not to force all the Fluid they recommended the first few days - just keep sipping. When I have to cough, I have to press on the one wound with a pillow. that helps alot. I haven't gotten on the scale yet. Not worried. How can you not lose weight when you haven't eaten in 4 days! I am taking 3 weeks off work (using vacation). This is a very exciting time! I'm going to be 48 on January 8th. I started this journey at 222 pounds There may already be a January 2011 Group on here somewhere and if so i will delete this one and join. But just in case, I thought I would start one so that those of use getting sleeved next months can become and stay connected. About me.... I am 40 year old single mom of a 9 year old son. i recently hit 300 pounds, which I have been trying to avoid for a few years now. I made a decision to get a LapBand at the beginning of this month. As I explored that decision, I decided to go with the Sleeve instead. I have completed my sleep studies (Yep, got to go in twice! Last one last night...with a CPAP), I've had my psych eval, and I had my consult. I am self pay so it all seems to be moving so quickly and smoothly. I really feel for those who have to deal with insurance. I truly wish it were easier for you. I cannot tell you the feeling I felt yesterday when I got the call with my date. January 13! I am going on a cruise with family for Christmas and spending New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with my son in Orlando. We get back on January 2 and then I have my pre-op appointment on the 3. I will start my 10 day pre-op diet and then before I know it THE DAY will be here. I hope there are a lot of January 2011 Sleevers out there! ChattyCathy 0 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi Liz. I was not on a pre-op diet. I think it depends on your starting weight and BMI. One of my friends had a lot more weight to lost than me (over 150 pounds more) and the same sugeon put her on a pre-surgery diet. I am having my sleeve done on January 5th with Doctor Corvala in Tijuana. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I do have one question though was anyone else put on a pre-op diet? I was not and I have heard you are supposed to be so I am wondering why? Thanks Liz

Kris 78 Posted January 6, 2011 January 29th w/Dr. Aceves. Scared and many questions! Hi, I'm with Dr. Aceves too. I am headed down to San Diego tomorrow and my surgery is on Friday 1/7 (yay! so excited!!!). I will post an update about how it all went once I'm back home on the 10th. I did a lot of research to pick my surgeon and am sure Dr. Aceves is a very good choice. Lots of people here had him do their sleeve and love him. I think you will be in very good hands! FuriosMommy 3 Posted January 6, 2011 Hi all, I'm officially on the losing bench. I was sleeved yesterday afternoon and got to come home this morning. It's nice to be able to relax at home. I wasn't very prepared for waking up from the general anesthesia. I was in a lot of pain and it didn't subside too quickly. But now I'm home and able to relax and rest a little more. Good luck everyone!
