MrsMaddBroadway 1 Posted December 18, 2010 Heartburn help needed... I have never in my life had any heartburn issues with food. Now after getting my sleeve surgery I get heartburn after drinking too much water! What is a good medicine that I can take for this? Is this going to e a long term issue? If so, what is a good long term medicine that will work for my sleeve. I am currently on my mushie stage and start soft foods next Monday. Also, how long do I have to wait before lying down? At night I love getting up and having a sip of cold Water. How long do I need to wait before lying down again?? I have been lying down fairly early but that is when I get the worst of the heartburn problem. Is this the reason behind the "no lying down after eating rule"?? That is my thoughts but if anyone knows another reason please let me know. I really hate taking big pills are there any other types of heartburn medicines that will work for me? I know this is a lot of questions but I am new to heartburn issues. Thanks
Lila21 36 Posted December 18, 2010 Well, first of all, are you taking a daily heartburn pill right now? If not, I highly recommend that as your first step. I think heartburn issues are to be expected early out, and most doctors put you on a daily dose. Mine is Prevacid, I belive. I take it once a day in the morning, and I don't experience any heartburn. klus263 9 Posted December 18, 2010 My doctor prescribed for me powder nexium. I mix in with a tablespoon of warm Water every morning. I have had no heartburn or reflux issue at all. They had also done a hernia repair at the same time. Contact your doctor to see if you can get a liquid prescription for a time.
