Finally starting to feel the difference

Recommended Posts

I am finally starting to feel and notice the differences in myself since my surgery. I was sleeve back in august starting at 383 lbs and I weighed my spec after I got home from work tonight and I'm at 311. I really can't remember the last time I weighed that much. I do remember being in the 6 th grade and being 277, although I just remember felling trapped. I don't know it's the little stuff like sitting in group with my clients and being able to cross my legs or this my sound strange but when I was playing DDR tonight I realized that I can clap my hands behind my back. It's really the little stuff that makes me realize that I made the choice that was right for me. I mean I'm still single and I still notice that my self esteem is getting better. I just hope that my sharing this with others will help them realize that is is not just looking at the scale going down that matters but the effect it has on your frame of mind.

Your absolutely right bon bon. When little things happen it is a wonderful thing to our self esteem. I feel like if our self esteem was ever damaged by people it is reclaimed in every little sucess we have at losing weight. When we give or for that much get comments on our sucesses it is a awesome feeling and makes us want to continue with the fight we are here for. good luck your doing awesome..

Congratulations, BonBon!! I just sent in my deposit, and am scheduled for Halloween 2011. Really excited, especially when I read posts like yours! Well done making the choice to live a better life!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
