Howdy y'all. I am new to this forum, but am looking forward to connecting with others who are going through the same thing as me. I had my 2 weeks post op on Monday and just yesterday had a mis-fortunate occurrence. I am supposed to be able to eat puree's and have had applesauce and some veggies. Well, I went to Chili's yesterday for lunch with my best friend and ordered a cup of potato cream Soup. I only ate about half of it and felt like crap. I went to the bathroom and started getting over heated and sweaty. I then starting gaging, threw foam, and then yellow liquid which I think may be bile but it didn't have a flavor. I was surprised that I did not throw up the soup. Have any of you had this happen? Did I eat too much? To fast? Or was it that it was a fatty soup? I am so scared to eat anything now. Today I just had liquids again. Any advice?

Ah the foamies I know them well(G) I am 4 months out and just had a bout this past weekend. Its from either eating too much or too fast. It takes awhile before the nerves in our stomach get back on line so you don't have your regular "full" signals. I usually get hiccups as mine.

I always have hiccups. :-( Just randomly through out the day I will have a hiccup spell. That normal?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
