One week post sleeve and new to forum

Recommended Posts

Hi, I had the sleeve on December 10, 2010 at about 12 noon....Dr Hawasili, from Eastside Suregeons, at St John Hospital in Detroit Michigan. My first thought on waking up in pain was "Why the H** did I even Think this was a good idea?" But everyday with less pain, and able to do more so that is not an issue anymore.

I just stumbled upon this site and I am looking forward to learning more and sharing. My husband had sleeve on November 12 -- he is doing very well and tells me he is not hungry. We have several friends at our church who have had sleeve, adn one has had the full by-pass. This is a helpful support group.

I need help! I am hungry! No-not my stomach, my head. I am following doctor's orders and as of yesterday started logging what I eat, when, so I don't under or over eat...nothing too crazy. I made a column on the left at half hour itme intervals, then I just write something like 1/3 cup Protein Drink, or 1/2 cup Soup. I take my time and literally a 1/2 cup of clear liquid soup may take me an hour to eat. But I want more and I wan to chew!

Please, please tell me this will go away! Anyone who experienced similar and can help me get over this would be a God-send. I was looking forward to not being hungry as a way to help through this, so I am also sad. It seems like it is harder than I thought it would be.

Thanks!

Hello and Welcome!

I was sleeved Nov. 8th and by my 3rd week I had alot of head hunger. I know this is hard, for you but the head hunger will pass. When I have extreme head hunger I find some busy work to do around the house ie polish my nails, pull out my sewing machine or go for a walk at the mall looking at the the smaller clothing stores which helps me focus on why I had this surgery in the first place. I promise the head hunger will pass and you also have someting I do not have you're blessed with a husband who has gone through this and can give you support. My husband supports me, but does not understand head hunger at all he Snacks all day long which is the reason that I sometimes go the mall. I hope this helps

Hi, I am four months out and still have head hunger now and then. I can tell you it does get easier once you are able to start soft foods.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
