New Jersey email support group!!

Recommended Posts

I want to get folks in the NJ tri-state area together via email and eventually have some in-person support groups in Central NJ. We get a lot of great advice on this site and I want to continue to do that, but for those of us who are close geographically, I would love to get together. And I also had the idea of playing "matchmaker" for single sleevers. What do you folks think?

More importantly I personally want and need support from all of you so anyone who wants to email can do so. I've already "met" some great people and I'd love to meet more. I've been having personal issues that I was able to "talk" about to people here and I appreciate them a lot for "listening". I also had some doubs about getting sleeved and the great folks here talked me through them.

Email me anytime or PM me here. My email is recipes (LOL) email me.

I hope to hear from all of you folks!!

Hey I'm not living in NJ/NY/PA but I will definitely be here for support!

I'm so glad you got all of your issues worked out and you have a date...exciting! Have you met and do you like the new surgeon? You know you can PM or email me anytime, this has been the best support group ever...and I've been to my surgeon's support group and this online community far outweighs that!

You've been here for support from Day 1 so I thank you and appreciate that very much!

I haven't met my new surgeon yet but I have an appointment for the 28th to meet him. I'm hearing good things about him.

Once I meet him I will be more comfortable and less nervous but I'm still very excited about getting approved and getting a date and finally getting sleeved!!

I'm definitely going to stay in touch with you and I hope you do the same. Have a wonderful holiday with your family!!

Hey there, I'm in central NJ but I had my sleeve in MX! I used to have a band that was fond by a surgeon here in NJm, but never really went to his support group. I really get more out of the online groups. I would be more than happy to get an email group or coffee/meet up going in central NJ with you! I'm 9 weeks out now and still learning the sleeve ropes!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
