Your favorite banded breakfast.....

I usually eat a couple of slices of very crispy bacon and a scrambled egg for Breakfast, but I've noticed that it doesn't go down very well until after 10 a.m. So if I'm having trouble I drink a Protein Drink and go on. I get hungry about 3 p.m. and have to have a snack and then eat dinner at about 6-7 p.m. Scrambled eggs seem to work in the morning for me and I like to eat bacon with them, but I have to eat a bite of egg and then a bite of bacon and mix them together so it will all go down. For lunch at work, I eat a granola bar and that usually works for awhile though they are very small. Still I have bowel problems and so I've started adding an oatmeal cookie with raisins once a day and that takes care of the constipationl. I suspect I'm not eating right, but I just don't like a bunch of the stuff they tell you to eat. I have a lot of chicken and pork chops, cooked really soft and that usually works. I find that stress messes up my esophagus and I have more PBs than if I'm not stressed.

I'm loosely following the "You On A Diet" guidelines, and he recommends that you eat the same thing every day for breakfast. It works for me, because I don't have to think about it. My current daily breakfast is steel cut oatmeal with raisins, chopped pecans, chopped apple, flax oil, and brown sugar Splenda, topped with a little 1% milk. Yummy!

I usually have trouble in the morning with restriction so I do not eat when I first get up. I keep Atkins shakes in the fridge at work and when I get there at 8 the first thing I do is go to the fridge and put my lunch away and get out my shake.

Does anyone have problems with scrambled eggs? I've tried them for dinner at night and they seem to give me the slimies.

Timing Breakfast is hard for me so I make it easy and Drink lo carb slimfast. I am tighter in the evenings so I have to be careful what I eat. lunch is in front of an audience- so slow and easy at lunch. Try to stick with yogurt, cottage cheese, Soup or soft non-hard Protein that can get stuck!!

i have little restriction. I used to never eat breakfast. i also used to smoke a pack of smokes and drink a pot of coffee between four am and nine am. but that isnt me anymore.

Now. I wake up and make hot tea with honey first (i prefer earl grey but sometimes do english breakfast). Then i take Calcium, bvitcomp, Multivitamin, Iron, vit c. Then i pour the boiling Water into two packets of golean vanilla oatmeal (the stuff rocks and you dont have to add anything to it. it has flax in it too!)

every now and then i wake up VERY hungry, and then its two poached eggs and a little lean ham if i have it, instead.

as a TREAT.. (about once a week) i go with a friend to a local fav cafe and we have eggs benedict!

(my favorite)

If I have the time, I cook a sausage patty, scramble an egg, stack it, and melt a slice of cheese over the top, and split it---more of a 2/3 & 1/3 split, giving my 2 yr old granddaughter the bigger half!

If I don't do that I will have part of a container of yogurt with granola. Or some Cereal, with milk.

I have also been known to eat leftovers for breakfast. My favorite used to be spaghetti---now I must eat a small amount at dinner, and for breakfast, just can't do it!!! I will eat a left over piece of steak, or a burger or something like that though.

I too find myself thinking less about food through the day, if I start it out by eating.

mmm.. eggs Benedict - my favorite - but never have them for breakfast!

If I get up at 5am I have a cup of coffee, about 10am I have a peice of fruit or a protien bar, then lunch between 12 and 1. I also try to drink a couple glasses of Water between 5 and 10.

If I sleep in I don't eat until lunch. After reading all of your posts I'm wondering if I should try to get in a Protein drink.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
